I have a weird problem with the dates in my cat.alog. I must have selected the wrong date for an import because Lighroom created another “2019” folder inside the existing 2019 folder and is now putting new photos in there. A screen shot is attached.

I tried deleting the folder and re-importing the photos from a backup but it keeps doing the same thing. Am I not understanding the folder structure correctly or is there a trick to fixing this?

Thank you for any help.

I understand that, but once I get rid of the “2019” subfolder, which folder do I tell Lightroom to import into so that my directory structure makes sense? I tried importing into the original “2019” folder only to have the problem recur. Thank you.

You probably still have the option selected in the import dialog to create a subfolder called ‘2019’. That is why the problem comes back each time. You have to uncheck this option. The folder to select is the parent of the 2019 folder (not shown in your screenshot).

So this is what it should look like:

By the way, you don't need to delete and re-import photos which are in the wrong place, you can just move them around using the Lightroom Folders panel. That way you won't lose any editing you've done.
