If you like to shoot tethered (with your camera connected to the computer and the photos immediately being imported into Lightroom), and you’re a Mac user, you might want to know about this bug before you think of upgrading your operating system.
Kevin Tieskoetter (Lightroom Engineer) has posted an update on the issue:
We’ve found a solution to the tethering issue on 10.6.8 / 10.7 and the fix will be included in the next dot update. There were apparently changes in the USB drivers starting in 10.6.8, and, as best I can tell, the OS puts the connection to sleep after a certain period of inactivity. I’m not sure if they’re doing that to reduce power consumption or some other reason, but it caused LR to lose the connection with the camera.

I’ll post again as soon as 3.5 is available for download. (I know, I really must get back to posting more often!!!)
Wow! Thank you for posting this, I am also having issues with my Hyperdrive Album connecting to my mac over USB, I wonder if its the same type of issue.
Sorry, probably not Jonathan. This was to do with some OS changes which broke bits of Canon/Nikon’s SDK’s.
Why not drop by the forum (link on the menubar above) and we’ll help you troubleshoot.
FYI, LR 3.6 is out at this point. This SHOULD fix the issue. I have not had a chance to verify yet. 3.4 caused major issues on a shoot yesterday. Hoping this will solve the problem.
Hope so Boris! The Canon 5D’s no longer supported on 10.7 as Canon haven’t updated their libraries, but most reports have been good for everything else on 3.6.

Thanks for the info, I am on a D700. I plan to trial and confirm the fix this coming week.
