Updates for Lightroom Classic 13.2 and the Lightroom Ecosystem (desktop 7.2/mobile 9.2) have been released today. While these are primarily for bug fixes and new camera and lens support, there are also some welcome additions to Lightroom Classic. There are a number of important bugs fixed, see our list below.
We recommend that this is a version worth updating immediately.
Newly reported bugs since release…
- We will update as these are reported.
Lightroom Classic
Sort Order
There are a few new options in the Sort Order pop-up: City, State, Country, Aperture, Focal Length, Shutter Speed, and ISO Speed.
Filters & Smart Collections
There are a few new options in the Metadata Filter and Smart Collection criteria:
- Uses Masking shows images that have any kind of mask.
- Uses AI Mask shows images that have an AI-based mask (Sky, Subject, Background, Object or People).
- Uses Lens Blur uses the Early Access Lens Blur tool.
- Uses Healing shows images that use any kind of healing adjustment (Clone, Heal or Remove).
- Uses AI Heal shows images that use the AI-based Content-Aware Remove tool.

Flags in XMP
When reading metadata from and writing metadata to the files, Lightroom now includes flags. This is primarily for compatibility with Lightroom Desktop, and is not supported by other apps like Bridge.
Memory Management
When working in the Develop module on a Silicon Mac, Lightroom now releases more memory when the system memory is under pressure. This improves the memory hogging and gradual slowdown over time.
Nikon Pixel Shift
While not a new feature as such, there’s news for Nikon users who have a camera that is able to offer Pixel Shift (introduced via a recent Firmware update to the cameras). This became available in Camera Raw in January (16.6.1) and is now supported in Classic 13.2.

How do I update?
To update, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Manage Updates button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world, to avoid overloading the servers. You can also open the Creative Cloud app, click the … icon (top right next to Installed Apps) and Check for Updates to give it a nudge.

Lightroom books
The eBooks for Adobe Lightroom Classic – The Missing FAQ have been updated to include the new features. Adobe Lightroom – Edit on the Go is unaffected by these releases as there are no feature changes.
The eBooks can be downloaded immediately after purchase. If you already have a current Premium Membership for the relevant eBook, the latest eBooks are available for download in your Members Area.

Has Adobe (or Nikon via Adobe) said anything about fixing the “broken Nikon Z8 tethering after Nikon Z8 Firmware 2.0 update” issue?
It’s an issue in Nikon’s SDK, so Adobe’s contacted them, but no news on a fix yet I’m afraid.
