Using an external SSD for LR Classic

My wife's iMac only has a 1tb ssd drive. I would like a dummy's approach to moving the Lightroom files to the external SSD. The only reason for doing this is to get more space for her LR library which has close to 50k photos. We have Victoria's book on LR Classic. Additionally, how would this work when she wants to use Photoshop?

Hi

Page 399 of your Lightroom Classic book, 'How do I move only my photos to another hard drive, leaving the catalog where it is?' explains. If you are launching PS from within Lr, then the resultant file from PS will reside at the same location as the original (so the external SSD)

Just as an additional note, often leaving the catalog on the system drive is best for performance, as effectively you have one used for catalog actions and one for file reading, but if the external is SSD then there is probably less reason to worry. However, do be sure that all back systems are looking at wherever you move things to!
