Catalogs Backup Location changed

Much to my irritation I noticed that the catalog backup location got changed from my previously chosen folder on a network drive to the default location, i.e. in the same folder as the catalog itself. It seems likely that this occured in the update from 8.2 to 8.3. Has anyone else noticed this or was this just a quirk?
Since in only recently started being more vigilant about catalog backup being on an external drive (bad me...) I'm not sure if this is something I'll now need to check after every update.

This happens when the original location is not available when the backup needs to be made.

Ah, I understand - although it's a mapped network drive and should be always connected, I know only too well the vagrancies of Windows and network drives...
