I have been merging HDR files from a recent shoot all day. When Lightroom finishes the merge, the files have been next to or among the original bracketed files in my grid. But, now, later in the day, Lightroom is putting the files at the end of all files and I have to moved each one back into the sequence to place is next to the bracketed files. What's up with that? I did not change anything that I am aware of that has caused the HDR files to no longer stay with the originals.

Could it be the sort order?
When i'm making HDR's the images also show up at the end untill i change the sort order in 'File name'

When you make a collection for these images you can reorder them as you like (custom order) and the collection will remember the order. This is not possible in 'all photograps' or 'previous import'.

Another way to change the order is to have them stacked. However when the brackets are stacked, LR will annoyingly put the HDR image outside of the stack. And, similar to you, I find it seemingly haphazard as to whether it'll put the HDR before or after the stack, even when keeping the same sort order -- also very annoying.
With all my brackets pre-stacked (using auto-stack), I have yet to come across an instance where it'll put it at the end of all files though.

Well, looking at the Sort Order for this folder, it said Custom Order. That may be because I had been dragging the HDR files back to where they should be. So, I changed this back to File Name, created a new HDR from a different series of bracketed shots, and Lightroom kept the HDR with the brackets instead of sending it to the end of the files. Since this behavior changed while working yesterday, perhaps I inadvertently changed the Sort Order. In any case, it is working now and you have alerted me to keep an eye on the Sort Order which I was not doing before. Thanks, Roelof, et al.
