Question about stacks

Is there any way of putting a space between stacks in the grid view, and possibly show how many files are in each stack?

The grid does show how many are in each stack already, in the upper left corner of the image area. If you're not seeing it, you need another view mode. Try either "Show Extras" (shift-command-H) or the next cell view style (J).

There's no way to put spaces there, but expanded stacks are indicated by a double vertical bar to the left edge of the first image and right edge of the last image in the stack.
