Handling Nikon Coolpix NRW format

Will my lightroom 5.7 be able to handle NRW format files as I'm considering buying a Nikon p7100. Also I have Photoshop CS6. I'm comfortable with my Nikon DSLR, so what advanced compact Nikon would people recommend I do.

No, 5.7 will not do for the p7100 NRW files. (JPG- yes)
You would need to upgrade (buy the Lightroom upgrade) to version 6.5 as a minimum to be able to import .NRW files to Lightroom.
Or, you could convert the Nikon NRW files to DNG (raw) with the free Adobe DNG Converter and import these to Lightroom 5.7
I will leave a camera recommendation to others, or yourself

I-S-L, I think you've misread the list: Cameras supported by Camera Raw

6.5 is the ACR plug-in version needed, the equivalent LR version is 3.5.
