arw file not readable

Just bought a Sony A7 III and took a few pics in their RAW format, which is called ARW. Tried to import it to Lr 6.14 and Lr does not recognize the format. I suppose I should convert it but to what other Lr-readable format without a loss of data?

Converting to DNG (using the free Adobe DNG converter) would NOT lose any data....it's still a raw file, albeit in a different wrapper (but one which 6.14 would be able to import and process).

The alternative, if you want to process the original raw file, would be to either upgrade to LR Classic (subscription-only), or consider switching to a different non-Adobe product.
