Ok, thanks Jim. I never had this "problem" with LR5 but since recently changing to the current version I have obviously not yet set it up properly. Thank goodness I had already exported the images as JPEG files prior to deleting the folder!
Thanks again for your help......
I see that although the "Sub folder" box is not ticked, the "Organise" drop down is set to "By date", the other option being "Into one folder". So is this the reason then Jim?
I had two folders, the main folder and one that manifested itself with the same name plus a date addition. I assumed, incorrectly obviously, that the images were in the main folder which I had created and imported the images into and that the sub folder was just a reflection of that. I finished...
Ok, panic over. I reluctantly decided to uninstall and reinstall LR6.0, although I always have a fear of the worst happening! Anyway after reinstallation, the Updates facility from within LR worked right away and installed 6.1 without any problems.
Thanks Jim for looking at it anyway......
Thanks Jim, (we have two topics running at the moment),
If I understand LR correctly, the Catalog is just saving the changes made to the original files which are stored, in my case on an external drive and these are indeed still there. However because I exited LR without backing up the Catalog...

Lightroom CC/6 update – June 2015
Update is not applicable. Error Code: U44M2P28

I checked all the...
I've just been looking through the Adobe forum as well and see that updates are NOT available for the LR6 (Perpetual) version....do I understand this correctly?
Having just written this I've read another forum message which confuses me even more. It relates to a LR6.1 Perpetual update....so is...
I mistakenly deleted an automatically created sub-folder containing worked on images that I assumed would stay in the main folder...which they didn't. Unfortunately the previous backed up catalog doesn't have the worked on information and only the original raw images still exist on disk. I think...
Thanks Jim but in the meantime.....
I managed to solve my problem by.....in LR going to Library/Synchronise Folder. It cleared out any unfound images and reloaded all of the develop module adjustments that had been previously made.

Using LR ver. 6.0 on iMac OS X Yosemite....
Just opened up LR and in a folder that I have been previously working on I suddenly find that all of the adjustments that I have made in the Develop module and normally show up in the History box, have disappeared, leaving just the original image file...
