Bug fixes
As usual this release also includes bug fixes. Adobe only publishes the ones that were reported by users.
- Classic – Vertical, Horizontal, and Rotate sliders are set to ‘0’ when Transform settings are applied to multiple images.
- Classic – Nikon Z6 CM camera profiles are missing after updating to Lightroom Classic 9.2.
- Classic – Import dialog does not select images to be imported.
- Classic – [macOS only] Lightroom Classic does not remember the application window size and launches in full-screen mode.
- Classic – Warn users when trying to open multiple files at once in Photoshop.
If you find another bug, click here to learn how to report it to Adobe.
How do I update?
To update, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world, to avoid overloading the servers. You can also open the Creative Cloud app, click the … icon (top right) and select Check for Updates to give it a nudge.
Is the book updated?
The eBooks for Adobe Lightroom Classic – The Missing FAQ and for Adobe Lightroom – Edit Like a Pro were updated for the February 9.2 and 3.2 changes, and can be downloaded immediately after purchasing. If you’re already a current Premium Member, the updated eBooks are available for download in your Members Area. No updates are needed for today’s release, as there are no new features.
Paul Mutimear says
I just updated LR Classic (not CC) yesterday and I like the new functions, despite virtually no instruction on how or what they do. However, when I export an image in JPG it changes radically and becomes much darker and with more contrast! If I select export Original + Settings I just get the bland original with a separate “settings” file that does nothing! (I am exporting using the up arrow icon in the top left corner which allows file renaming.) Any ideas what is happening? This is making the entire program unusable and I don’t even think I can go back to the previous version! Help!!
Victoria Bampton says
Start by going to Help menu > System Info and getting the version number. I can’t think of an up arrow in the top left corner in either version to rename, but if it was top right, you might have the cloudy version installed instead of Classic.

I’m still using Lr 6.14 — but am considering the subscription plan. I’ve just read the article linked above describing what’s new since Lr6. That’s helpful.
I’m using macOS 10.12.6 (Sierra) which is supported by Lr8 but not Lr9. Is it possible to sign up for the subscription plan and get an older version which is compatible with the OS? Thanks!
Victoria Bampton says
Version 8 is still available in the Creative Cloud app at the moment, but I’d expect that to drop off when version 10 comes out in October. I think it’s time to consider upgrading your operating system, even if you just jump forward to 10.14.

Thanks!

I am a paying subscriber to Adobe, but was just locked out of Lightroom (and Photoshop, I assume). Here is the message:
You will not be able to use Lightroom Classic at this time. Please contact Customer Support and use the reference code 201 for more information on how to resolve this issue.
Clicking “Customer Support” takes me to a 404 Page Not Found page!
Any thoughts on getting me back into my photographs?
Victoria Bampton says
Adobe’s having server issues right now, so I suspect that’s probably all it is. Hopefully they’ll both sorted in no time.
PhilBurton says
I wonder how much Adobe’s progress on new features will be affected by the lockdown in effect in San Jose, CA (Adobe HQ).
Victoria Bampton says
I’m sure there will be some impact, but hopefully not too much. Many are used to working remotely all the time anyway, however they’re not used to also having their kids home!
John R Hoffman says
No camera specific profiles for Canon 1D X Mark III yet. W/o camera profiles the new feature to allow Picture Styles to be applied won’t work – defaults to Adobe Standard.
Victoria Bampton says
Canon’s changed their format which is delaying camera emulation profiles for their latest cameras.
Lauren says
I can’t seem to “update default settings” under the develop tab anymore, did that disappear or move somewhere? I want to change the default colour profile Lightroom uses to Adobe Standard rather than Adobe Color
Victoria Bampton says
It moved to Preferences dialog > Presets tab in 9.2. There’s some extra choices there now too, including being able to assign a preset as the default.
Jeh says
Meanwhile Adobe is raking in record profits, glad to see such a robust update!
Victoria Bampton says
We used to have to wait 18 months to 2 years for new features. Their last release, which had some major changes, was only 2 months ago… remember many new features take longer than 2 months to complete!
Larry Fasnacht says
I have to say that when Adobe first went to the subscription model I was worried about this. But just the opposite has been my experience. I am so glad they made the move. As far as I am concerned it’s a win-win. Especially as long as they keep it to $9.99 for the photography package. I have a copy of Lightroom 6 and wouldn’t go back to it now for love or money.
Jon Pearson says
Hi Larry. What would you say are the stand-out advantages of LR9.x for you, vs LR6? My camera and lenses are still supported by my LR6 classic copy and I’m struggling to see the reason to pay $120 per year for something that works pretty well as it is. What am I missing? I should add that I’m a keen amateur, and don’t earn my living from photography. Many thanks.
Victoria Bampton says
This might help Jon, takes you from Lightroom 6 up to September last year: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/whats-new-lightroom-classic-since-version-6/

i was really getting excited when i saw the mate20pro lens profile… but unfortunately this only corrects for distortion but doesn’t do anything about the strong vignetting/colour cast. 🙁
RON COMSTOCK says
Use the profile, adjust vignetting to take out the dark edges. Then you can save it as a new default lens profile. Your problem is solved.
Rian Krenzer says
unfortunately this doesn’t work as the vignette is very uneven and has a colour cast… i have built a preset using multiple circular adjustments and a custom lens profile which does work for me…. i had just hoped an official profile would solve everything in itself..
