Lightroom Classic CC 7.5 has been released today. This release has some major improvements for the Book module, as well as bug fixes and new camera/lens support. The entire Lightroom CC ecosystem has also been updated.
Book Module
After many years, we now have the Book Module flexibility we’ve been asking for. While the pre-built templates are still the fastest way of designing a book, the templates can now be edited to suit your photos, and new templates can be designed from scratch. Drag the center of cells to move them, the bounding boxes to resize them, and right-click to add new cells or move them in front of or behind other cells. You can also add a border to the edge of the cell, and there are new Page Guides to help you lay out your new pages.
There are new book styles: Trade Book is a much cheaper option designed for cookbooks and storybooks, more so than photos. Premium Magazine is an 8.5” x 11” high-end magazine style book.
There’s also a new paper type for standard Blurb Photo Books. Standard Layflat paper is designed for two-page spreads, without a binding break between pages.
Page numbers can now be set to only show on left-hand pages or right-hand pages, or on both facing pages, and you can pause and resume the upload to Blurb for as long as Lightroom stays open.
Profile & Preset Bulk Import
You can now bulk import profiles and presets by going to Develop module > File menu > Import Develop Profiles and Presets. It imports XMP presets, XMP profiles, DCP camera profiles and LCP lens profiles, even if they’re inside a zip file. Accessing the Preset Import dialog from the Presets panel > right-click menu also accepts *.lrtemplate format presets (unzipped).
A word of warning if you have Store Presets with This Catalog checked in Preferences > Presets… this checkbox is completely ignored when using the bulk import, and the imported presets are placed in the Camera Raw / Imported Settings folders in your user account, rather than being stored with your catalog.
HEIF Support
With the release of iOS 11, Apple announced that its newest devices would default to a new photo file format/container called HEIF, which stands for High Efficiency Image Format. It uses a more modern compression method than JPEG, so the file sizes are smaller. In the last release, support was added on macOS 10.13, and it’s now also supported on Windows.
Map Module
You may have spotted an error message in the last few days, saying “Map view will be discontinued on this version of Lightroom” on November 30th, 2018. Don’t panic, Lightroom 7.5 and later will carry on working as normal.
Facebook Changes
Facebook changed their API on August 1, preventing desktop apps from uploading photos. The plug-in was therefore automatically disabled. It’s now been reenabled in read-only mode, so you can access your Facebook album collections but you can’t upload direct to Facebook.

How do I update?
To update, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world, to avoid crashing the servers. You can also open the Creative Cloud app, click the … icon (top right) and select Check for Updates to give it a nudge.
Is the book updated?
The eBooks for Adobe Lightroom Classic – The Missing FAQ are already updated for these changes, and available for download in the Members Area for current Classic Premium Members.

Hi Victoria,
I just updated Lightroom Classic so I´m not sure if it´s a bug or something because I have a problem with the Book module. I can´t seem to find a way to save any changes done in a book. If I go to Library module, then the book goes back to the point in which it was before de update. I can´t add any new pages, or make any change that won´t dissappear as soon as I change module or close the program. As soon as I re open or go back to Book module, then my book appears as it was before.
Do you have any recommendations?
Victoria Bampton says
That does sound odd Antonio! Is it limited to that particular album collection? What happens if you try creating another one as a test?
Doug says
Hi
I’m having problems trying to revert back from Lightroom 8 to 7.5.
I have tried it using the Creatve Cloud App but no luck…it doesn’t give me the option to install previous versions. The only option I have is to uninstall the program, which is the latest one, 8.0.
I had 7.5 and accidently upgraded to 8.0 through the app, not realizing that it was going to be 8.0. The reason why I want to go back to 7.5 is because I notice that 8 was being slightly glitch on my computer.
If anyone can provide legit, virus-free link to Lightroom 7.5, that would be greatly appreciated!!!
Victoria Bampton says
What kind of glitch Doug? Have you reported it to Adobe so they can fix it? Here’s instructions on how: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/send-bug-report-feature-request-adobe/
To roll back to 7.5, click the arrow next to the Open button for LR Classic in the CC app, then go to Manage > Other Versions and 7.5 should be listed there.
Hilarie says
Opps that’s LR Classic CC
Hilarie says
Hi Victoria
I can’t import CR3 files from a folder on my desktop to LR 7.5 CC. I have a Canon EOS R using an SD card. Running on Windows 10.
When I load the files LR marks them as ‘preview unavailable’ and when I try to import it says it can’t because the ‘files are unsupported’.
Any suggestions?
Victoria Bampton says
Hi Hilarie. Lightroom Classic 8.0 just came out today with Canon EOS R support, so just update Lightroom and you’ll be all set.
Alex says
I can’t go through my presets the way I used to. It’s really laggy. Any way to fix this? Thanks
Victoria Bampton says
How did you used to go through the presets then?
Daniel says
I have the up to date version of LR 7.5 , however I am unable to move the end points of my tone curve. There are only 3 options ; Linear, Medium contrast, Strong contrast
Victoria Bampton says
It sounds like you’re in Parametric mode – you have the sliders there? Click the button bottom right of the Tone Curve panel to switch to Point Curve mode.
Stephen Hutchinson says
Are there direct links for Lightroom Classic CC 2018 7.5? After extensive tries to get the Creative Cloud app to show the new update, it will not appear. Thanks in advance.
Victoria Bampton says
I haven’t seen non-CC installers since Classic’s release. If you’re having trouble getting the update to show, I’d uninstall, run the CC Cleaner app and then reinstall. That usually clears out gremlins.
Ken says
The new book tools are brilliant and I’ve been waiting for so long for this new functionality. However, resizing cells is absolutely crying out for some sort of snap function. Hopefully this will follow in further updates.
Ben Williams says
Hi Victoria, I’m wondering whether it’s technically correct to say that the Facebook plug-in has been disabled? It no longer allows me to create albums (and I assume to publish), but it looks to be the Facebook service itself rather than LR having disabled the plugin. If the latter were true then it could have repercussions for other LR Publisher plugins.
Victoria Bampton says
Because Facebook changed their API, making it impossible for Lightroom to upload photos, Adobe remotely disabled the plug-in itself to try to avoid to confusion. But then people couldn’t access their collections/FB albums within LR to turn them into normal collections for reference, so Adobe now made the plug-in accessible again, but it can’t publish now.
Graham says
Presets still cannot retain spot removal? No way to zero everything except spot removal. Seems strange
Victoria Bampton says
No, presets can’t do spots, or red eye or brush, for that matter. Those are things that are generally specific to a photo, rather than something you’d want to use for lots of photos, although I can see how you might want to use them in reverse.
You can zero everything except spots using Copy/Paste or Sync though. Reset a photo, copy everything but spots to the clipboard, then paste.
Clicio Barroso Fh says
Victoria;
Still no way to change book sizes (or create a custom book size and format) in Classic?
Victoria Bampton says
Nope, the page sizes are still fixed. We can’t have too many miracles in one release. 😉
John says
Tried to add presets from another Mac to a new Macbook with 7.5 today, after about three hours I gave up trying and downgraded to an earleir version of LR, when it started my added presets were where they should have been (in 7.5 but weren’t) and then upgraded back to 7.5.
Victoria Bampton says
That’s odd John. How were you trying to add them?
