Lightroom Classic 12.2 has been released today. There are some minor enhancements, but this is primarily a release for bug fixes, new camera/lens support and tethering for a new camera. The entire Lightroom Cloud ecosystem has also been updated.
New confirmed bugs in 12.2…
- P: Export Keywords Includes Keyword tags options (CSV) does not export diacritics correctly
- P: Print module: watermark in wrong location on exported files
- No Photos in Selected Folder incorrectly displayed when photos exist
Keywords export
It is now possible to export a .csv file of Keywords that includes the Keyword tag options.
Additionally, there has been performance optimization around some of the Keyword operations.
For an example of how to use Keywords Export, see our blog How do I copy keywords to a new catalog?
Maps
There is now a Show More Labels checkbox in the Map module toolbar to show more labels in the Map view (top). The default is to show fewer labels (bottom), which is less distracting.
Tracklog Time Offset
The Map module’s Set Time Zone Offset… command has been renamed to Set Tracklog Time Offset… and you can now enter the time offset in HH:mm format rather than decimal.
History steps in Develop
Clear History Above This Step now has a keyboard shortcut… if you hold down the Alt (Windows) / Opt (Mac) key and click on a history step, all of the History steps above are deleted. (There’s generally no need to do this though!)
Tethering on Ventura
Tethered capture now works on macOS Ventura.

How do I update?
To update, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world, to avoid overloading the servers. You can also open the Creative Cloud app, click Update on the left, then click the … icon (top right) and Check for Updates to give it a nudge.

Hi, Victoria,
Thanks so much for the clarification! I seem to remember something about 6 versus 7… Yes, I have been holding out for as long as I can but I guess I’ll update to Ventura and see how it goes. I have all my photos in a few Photos libraries as well, but all 330,000 photos going back over 20 years are very well organized in Lightroom, so I’ll have to see about how to address that. Oh, well. Dems da breaks.
Thank you!
Dave
Victoria Bampton says
Let us know how you get on! There’s so much good stuff in LR Classic, I don’t think you’ll want to go back to LR6.
Dave says
Hi,
I’m very confused about which versions are being discussed. I have the Lightroom Classic and I have never updated it for various reasons. It’s been working well and I never want to pay a monthly fee for it. But I see that if I want to update to MacOS Ventura, I may have issued with my Lightroom accessing the libraries on my external drive. I am reading this page and there are references to Lightroom CC, which I don’t think I have. I only use Lightroom for organizing and very basic editing as well as uploading to photo sites. There doesn’t seem to be a way to access updates in my help menu, either. When I click it, nothing at all happens.
I am running Lightroom 6.14 from 2017. Is there anything I can do now or is it too late for updates?
Thank you!
Victoria Bampton says
Don’t worry, lots of people are confused about the naming. You have Lightroom 6, not Lightroom Classic. Lightroom 7 onwards became subscription software and it was renamed to Lightroom Classic.
There are no more updates for Lightroom 6 I’m afraid – it’s very very old. If you want Lightroom to work on Ventura, you’ll likely need to update to the subscription version. There are occasional reports of it still working if it’s already installed and activated on the computer, but they’re increasingly rare.

You made my day today!
Your newsletter today solved my issues with editing stitched photos after having upgraded.
Straightening lines with the tool in architectures took me seconds on a 2022 MBP/Ventura.
Renaming the metrics.json solved the issue entirely.

I finally loaded V12.2..now all my presets are gone and it will not let me load new ones.. I have been to every site I can find about how to resolve this and nothing on any forum has worked…has anyone else experienced this…I am using Mac running Ventura 13.2
Victoria Bampton says
I haven’t heard other reports… when you say it won’t let you load new ones, what happens when you try?
rsande-yahoo says
I’m using v12.2 on PC and no longer have color grading as an option and am back to split toning. What gives?
Victoria Bampton says
Check the Process Version in the Calibration panel, you probably have an old version selected.
marksgotshots says
Both my iMac (2017 intel) and 202 MBP (M1), both have been updated to the most recent LRC and MacOS and have now totally forgotten that they are managed by ICC Profiles (vs. Printer Managed). Since I don’t have much hair left to pull-out, what next?
Victoria Bampton says
So what are you seeing in the Print Job panel? Can you not reselect the profile, or has the profile disappeared from the OS?
John Lehet says
Having rolled back and worked more, I’m quite sure v 12.1 performs much better than 12.2 in a workflow where you’re moving relatively quickly through the catalog (M1 Macbook Pro, Monterey) and you make a virtual copy and then hit the R key. In 12.1 you can work as fast as you can. In 12.2 if you don’t wait a bit before hitting R to crop LR will get all tangled up and you’ll have to fight a bit to get the new copy to even display. Sometimes it works in 12.2, but more often if you are too quick for it, it will get messed up and show the new copy as blank gray.
Bruce Ward says
I was running 12.2 on Windows 11. I shoot photos on the iPhone 13 Pro Max using the native iPhone camera app, then sync the photos to the Cloud using LR Mobile on the phone then sync them down to LR Classic on my desktop computer. Today I discovered an issue with the syncing down from the Cloud to Classic. As best I can tell, the issue began with the upgrade from 12.1 to 12.2. What happens is this. When I turn sync on in Classic by clicking on the cloud icon, the number of photos to be synced briefly appears then disappears. The folder where the synced photos are to be stored is created but shows 0 photos in the folder which never changes. The photos to be synced are shown as downloading in Prefs>Lightroom Sync>Sync Activity. The sync never completes. I tried a number of things to fix the problem including rebuilding with sync data. I confirmed both in LR Cloudy and LR on the Web that the photos to be synced have uploaded properly to the Cloud. I rolled back to 12.1 and the problem was solved. Re-installed 12.2 to confirm and the problem returned. I’m now back to 12.1. I reported the problem to Adobe on the User Forums.
Victoria Bampton says
Thanks for the heads up Bruce, I’ll see if I can find your thread to follow it. I’ve been running it for a while and haven’t run into that issue, but I’m on a Mac, maybe it’s OS specific. I’ll keep an eye open for other reports.
Bruce Ward says
Here’s my thread. One “me too” reply.

Victoria Bampton says
Thanks Bruce, I flagged it up with Rikk and he got the bug confirmed even though it was his day off.
John Lehet says
Nope, reverting to previous version. I’ll pound on that to see if it’s better.
John Lehet says
I think backup/optimize catalog this last time has fixed it. Everything is snappier, and my workflow seems to go without this won’t-crop snag now. Was about to revert to the previous version before getting to work but decided to try again. It could be that it’s bogging down because I’m doing a lot of work in long sessions.
Victoria Bampton says
Does it make a difference what you set the GPU settings to in Preferences > Performance?
John Lehet says
Yes, I guess the catalog would be fully compatible. (I am of the mind-habit that you can’t go back but of course that is only the case for major version changes) I’ll try that for my next lightroom session.
John Lehet says
I wish I had not done this upgrade! My current project involves a whole lot of make-a-copy, hit-the-r-key to crop. With this version if I do that fast, I get a gray screen after I hit the R key and a whole bunch of balkiness trying to get to being able to crop the copy. It goes better if I do it slowly. This problem wasn’t there before the update. Have optimized the catalog. Monterey, M1 Macbook Pro, 32GB RAM
Victoria Bampton says
It’s very easy to roll back https://www.lightroomqueen.com/roll-back-update-previous/
It would be interesting to know if going back to 12.1 fixes it, we can get it reported as a bug if so.
Cees Wouda says
The speed improvement to search collections is very very much appreciated! I am a heavy user of collections and I hated the lock-up you get when previously typing 1 or 2 characters in the filterbar. You can still get a lock-up though if you type 2 characters and then backspace. Still some further improvement to do, but this already helps me a lot.
Ron Byram says
with the new export of keywords. what’s its purpose? Can you edit the csv list then reimport?
I know I have been trying to clean up key words etc. just courious
Victoria Bampton says
The purpose is the same as before – transferring your list to a different catalog (e.g. a temporary travel catalog). Before, it only took the keywords in their hierarchy, whereas now it includes the keywords checkboxes too. Editing or deleting then reimporting doesn’t work.
MarisAvots says
I’ve been putting off updating to LR 12. Has the .2 release fixed most issues and made it ok to upgrade?
Paul McFarlane says
It looks really good, we’ll update this blog for any significant issues that get reported.
Chuck Johnston says
So great that they have finally added curves in the masks like in CameraRaw 15.0 from Oct. 2022… Oh wait…
Do you have a hint when/if this feature is coming to LR? It’s been 5 months already. I presumed they didn’t manage to include it for 12.0 due to tight schedule, but it was almost done and then would add it in 12.1, but it’s 12.2 and it’s still not here…
Victoria Bampton says
I do, but I can’t share that information I’m afraid. There’s a bunch of extra work getting it into Lightroom, they had to rearrange all the masking sliders (which made it into 12.1) etc.
Chuck Johnston says
I see, thanks a lot for the update!. Just the confirmation that it’s not forgotten is good enough. Hope that it doesn’t take them too long though….
Rikk Flohr says
Not to mention making Sync and Auto-Sync workflows function. There is always more work to do with a Camera Raw feature when integrating it into LrC.
Shayne Wolfe says
Definitely looking forward to this as well. It will be huge for real estate photography
