Updates for Lightroom Classic 10.4 and the Cloud ecosystem (desktop 4.4/mobile 6.4) have been released today. This is an interim release, so these are primarily for bug fixes and new camera support, but there are a couple of small enhancements to Classic.
Newly reported bugs since release…
- Classic – There are some reports of Canon Tethering not working. If you run into this, please go to File menu > Plug-in Manager and ensure that Nikon Tethering (yes, Nikon!) is enabled, then restart Lightroom. Let us know if this solves it for you too!
- Classic – If Auto Sync is enabled and you apply a preset, it applies the settings from the active photo, not the preset.
Duplicate Collection Sets (Classic only)
Previously, there was no easy way to duplicate an entire Collection Set. Now, if you duplicate a Collection Set then all Collections in it are also automatically duplicated.
Nikon Tethered Live View support (Classic only)
Tethered Capture with Live View support has been added for the Nikon D750 and Nikon D610.

Bug fixes:
There are lots of bug fixes, but Adobe only publishes the ones that were reported by users:

- Classic – Metadata browser’s Smart Preview Status columns shows wrong counts
- Classic – Duplicating a Collection Set does not include any collections inside the Collection Set
- Classic – Crash on launch
- Classic – Guided Upright does not work on some Leica DNG files
- Classic (Windows only) – Lightroom Classic becomes slow due to GDI handle leak
- Classic (Mac only) – Enhance Super Resolution fails when the original is in Quick Collection

How do I update?
To update, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world, to avoid overloading the servers. You can also open the Creative Cloud app, click Update on the left, then click the … icon (top right) and Check for Updates to give it a nudge.

Live view tethering worked for my Z5.
Paul McFarlane says
That’s great, it some tethering that had issues, glad yours works and thank you for confirming!
Pim says
This update brakes down Fujifilm Tethering, I already downgraded to Lightroom 10.3, can you guys confirm if you enable the Nikon Tethering plugin also fix this?
Victoria Bampton says
I’m afraid I don’t have a Fuji camera on site to test, and the Fuji plug-in isn’t an Adobe one. Based on other reports, I suspect it’ll work. It’ll be fairly quick and easy for you to confirm.
Matt Schlotzhauer says
Hmm… a month later and the major bug (reported & confirmed by Adobe) dealing with presets is still not corrected.
Paul McFarlane says
We trust it’ll be corrected in the next update.
Jeff says
Hi Matt – curious as to what is meant by “bug…presets” ? Considering installing 10.4 to try to smooth some overall issues with my beloved 9.4 on iMac. Thanks

Hello there,
are there any news regarding the bug ‘CR/LrC/LrD: Sony files have a yellow/green tint’ from the update to version 10.3 (June 2021)?
I had to stop the automatic update to avoid these changes with Sony AR7iii files shifting to green/yellow in the Develop module.
Many thanks to any news!
Victoria Bampton says
To my knowledge, that’s still outstanding, should hopefully be in the next release.

I’ve always turned auto update off but for some reason this update installed automatically – what a pain.
Tethered capture is not working at all – the window does not even come up.
LR Classic 10.4 / Mac OS Catalina / Canon 5DS
I’ve posted in the Adobe forums and would not recommend updating straight away if this affects you.
I’ve rolled back to 10.3 and now am dealing with the headache of that on a shoot day.
Jurgen Lobert says
Hi guys, I think you meant to say D780 support for tethering, not D750. The 750 has been supported since V6.
Paul McFarlane says
Hi Jurgen
You’re correct the D750 has had tethering support since 6.0, but in 10.4 Live View has been added for it.
The D780 has had tethered support since 10.0.
