Lightroom CC 2015.12 and Lightroom 6.12 have been released today. This release is focused on new camera/lens support and bug fixes, including a fix for the Map module showing as offline. (For the update links, skip to the end of the post.)
What happened to 2015.11 / 6.11?
You’re not missing anything… there wasn’t a 2015.11 / 6.11 release. Lightroom uses the Camera Raw engine, so the version numbering is closely tied. The next Camera Raw release would have been 9.11, but out of respect for the tragic events that unfolded on that date, Adobe decided to skip that version number.

How do I update?
To update, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world, to avoid crashing the servers. If you’re a CC user, you can open the CC app, click the cog icon and select Check for Updates to give it a nudge. Alternatively, here are the direct links to the patches: Windows – Mac
will lightroom 6 ever get the dehaze slider that is in LR CC
Lightroom 6? No. If they release a Lightroom 7, then Dehaze would be included. Somehow I think they’ll be going subscription-based for future updates though.
My radial filter tool no longer works with the new update. It does a radial filter but without an visual clue to its location and size. If you say increase exposure, the expected area gets brighter, but there is no way to change its size or shape.
My error. Hitting the h key returned the circle.
Well spotted Donald!
I STILL haven’t starting using CC. I’m still using Lightroom 5. My workflow doesn’t have any problems. I’m wondering if there is any benefit to transitioning.
There’s some pretty nice features Larry. I’m using the panorama/HDR merge facilities and Reference view all the time, and I really like Dehaze too. Here’s the full list of what was new in the last major upgrade, and there have been some extra new features since.
I am concerned about the “reversibility” of going to cc. If you decide to unsubscribe later, will your “old” Lr6 perpetual copy still work? Will I be able to access my catalog with it? How do I even tell the difference between the two on my computer once cc is installed? I’m sure Adobe would like to lock me in for the rest of my life. I’m just not sure I do.
At this point in time, CC 2015 and LR6 are exactly the same program files, just licensed differently, so if you cancelled your subscription, your current install would just revert to being an LR6 install. No issue accessing your catalog or anything else.
At some point, they’ll upgrade the catalog format, at which point, LR6 will no longer be able to open it. When that happens and you decide to end your subscription, you’ll have 2 or 3 choices. Lightroom will still open and you can still manage and export your files. Only the Map and Develop modules (and sync, of course) stop working. Everything else carries on as normal, so you can continue to use LR to manage your photos alongside whatever new raw processor you decide to move on to.
Or, if at that point you decided to go back to LR6 or move on to new management software, you could write all of the metadata out to XMP, being careful to make keywords to identify each of your collections, converting your flags to star ratings, and exporting virtual copies to “real” copies. Then you could import the photos into a new LR6 catalog or any other DAM software.
So, whatever you decide in future, you’re not really locked in. They’ve actually been really good about it, IMHO.
Victoria, since it seems subscription will remain the way to go, do you know any way to change billing from monthly to yearly ? (Even at the same total price)
AFAIK, the only way to do that is to buy a prepaid card from somewhere like Amazon to add a year to your expiration date.
Hi. Thanks for your recent posts. I am happy with my standalone version of Lightroom 6.12. There are many reasons for this. One of these is the very slow nature of my internet connection. This is not going to change in a hurry.
Today (21/10/17 NZ time) I noticed that there is an update. when I check it by clicking it it options include buy now. I am assuming that this is a buy into the new classic and not a real update.
Yep, you don’t want that one. Wait until 26 October for 6.13 and in the meantime, I’ll try to find out how the upgrade behavior will work when that’s live.
Thank you for taking the time to read and answer.
Thanks for the update Victoria. I also subscribed to get your free ebooks in the mail 🙂
