Lightroom CC 2015.10 and Lightroom 6.10 have been released today. Only a few weeks after the previous update, it’s focused on new camera/lens support and bug fixes. (For the update links, skip to the end of the post.)
Update – just one notable new bug in this release so far:
Even if ACR 9.10 is installed, Lightroom is still complaining that it needs updating. You can safely hit Open Anyway and check Don’t show again so it stops complaining. When 6.11 comes out, go to Preferences > Reset Warning Dialogs to bring the dialog back, so that it shows up for mismatches in future.

How do I update?
To update, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world, to avoid crashing the servers. If you’re a CC user, you can open the CC app, click the cog icon and select Check for Updates to give it a nudge. Alternatively, here are the direct links to the patches: Windows – Mac

Hi Victoria!
I have this occasional annoying issue of the wrong copy of Photoshop launching, when I send a photo from LR (i.e. open in layers in PS, or edit in PS). It will launch the copy of Photoshop on my backup drive (which I clone to nightly). Do you know why this happens and is there a way to stop it from happening? My preferred copy is on my boot drive, which is an SSD, so, you know, I’d rather it launch on that drive. 😉
Victoria Bampton says
It’s usually because the version of the backup drive is considered the most recent, due to the fact it’s been recently copied. No easy fix though, I’m afraid!
Holly Sisson says
That’s helpful, actually. I will just omit the PS application from the nightly clone. It is weird, though, how sometimes it would happen, and other times not, or it would just stop happening. It has also never happened to my sister, and she has a similar setup. Thanks!
John Trax says
OK. Rebooted. Everything seems fine. Minimize LR and walk away. Come back hours later and check task manager, and LR is using 13 – 20% CPU continuously.
Click to un-minimize and it takes 30 seconds for LR to open and refresh the display. I have a video of it. Now that is faster then over 1 minute like before but surely not right?
Any idea why LR is using so much CPU while minimized? This does not happen unless I leave it minimized for several hours. And once it starts using the CPU it does not stop, requiring you to close LR and restart.
Victoria Bampton says
Something like Face Detection, Reverse Geocoding or Sync could be chewing through some CPU. Beyond that, report it at the Official Feature Request/Bug Report Forum at https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/new/add_details?topic%5B
John Trax says
Well, definitely a driver problem. I updated to the latest Nvidia drivers in April. But just before the Lightroom update I applied a bunch of Windows updates and it appears something there removed the Nvidia drivers and replaced them with a generic Microsoft driver from 2015. Now have the newest Nvidia drivers and things are moving again. Victoria thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Now any idea why Lightroom is using 13% CPU when just sitting there?
Victoria Bampton says
Great, thanks for the update John. Try a reboot and see if that drops the CPU.
John Trax says
GPU card is GeForce GTX 760 drivers are current last I checked but will verify that.
According to task manager I have 8gb free out of 32gb. Not much else running except a browser and Outlook.
Any suggestions most welcome. Slow is aggravating but usable, this is way beyond that and something must be wrong with my installation as I don’t see widespread panic from others 🙂
John Trax says
Did the update and now have an unbelievably slow Lightroom. Open Lightroom, do work, minimize Lightroom, come back hours later. Click on icon to un-minimize. 1 minute 7 seconds from clicking the icon until Lightroom is fully open. I have a video taken with my cell phone showing this. And it is repeatable. I can now work in Lightroom for only a short while until it grinds to a halt and needs restarted.
Any ideas?
Windows 7
Intel 3770
32gb ram
running on 500gb SSD
Tried with graphics acceleration on and off, no difference.
At wits end with this program, each update runs slower and slower but this is just plain unusable and I have work to do.
Victoria Bampton says
Oh that does sound frustrating. Have you checked the graphics card manufacturer’s website for a new driver? GPU (even with the checkbox off) often seems to be to blame. Have you checked Windows Resource Manager to see whether you’re running out of RAM or what’s going on?
Jacques Breton says
I just installed the last update of Camera Raw and Lightroom. (CC15)
Now Lightroom do not recognise photos from Fugi Xt2 (RAF) (Le fichier n’est pas reconnu par la prise en charge du format Raw de Lightroom).
Photoshop dos not recognise it …
I tried to install Adobe Raw 9.11 but all my RAF are not usable. Am I the only one ?
Victoria Bampton says
I haven’t spotted any other reports, but report it at the Official Feature Request/Bug Report Forum at https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/new/add_details?topic%5B and include a link to a file for testing.
Linda Alschuler says
Did you start shooting in compressed RAW on the X-T2? If you’re on a Mac, you won’t see the previews on the import screen when you insert a card, but you can still import the files because Lightroom supports the format. I found out that if I choose the card as a source on the left in the import window, Lightroom will build the previews before importing.

I presently am using LR 5.7.1 and would like to upgrade to the latest updated 6. According to the
Adobe site one can only upgrade to 6 and not the latest version of 6. Is it even possible to buy the
latest upgrade and not have all the bugs that were in 6?
Thanks so much!
Victoria Bampton says
The LR6 upgrade will get you the free updates, including 6.10. It won’t have the new features added to the CC subscription since 6.0’s release, but you’ll get the bug fixes and camera/lens profile updates. The upgrade’s pretty hard to find on the website, but I wrote up instructions here:
Gordon Betsill says
Am I not correct that an upgrade is $79?
Victoria Bampton says
Yep, $79’s correct. You’ve obviously already found the right spot.
