New bugs…
- We will update if reported.
Reflection Removal (Classic & Desktop)
Reflection Removal has been improved – try it, especially on more difficult surfaces.
Prompt to Edit (Desktop – Early Access)
Lightroom Desktop has a new early-access feature called Prompt to Edit.
Based on the name alone, you might think it’ll move the right Lightroom sliders based on your description. It won’t. It’s an AI-based editing tool that’s very similar to sending photos to Firefly, except it’s built into Lightroom and automatically adds the photos to your library.
However, be warned: it costs a significant number of Generative Credits. In this initial release, it offers 2K or 4K output, costing 20 and 30 credits respectively.
To use it, select the new Prompt to Edit icon in the Toolstrip on the right, just above the Versions button. Select one of the sample prompts or type your own in the Prompt field.

It’s most useful for edits that you couldn’t easily do using Lightroom’s tools, for example, for repairing and colorizing old scans.

You can have some fun with it too!

How do I update?
To update on the desktop, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world to avoid overloading the servers. You can also open the Creative Cloud app, click the … icon (top right), and select Check for Updates to give it a nudge. To update on mobile, visit the App Store (iOS) / Play Store (Android).

Mac Mini M6 and LrC 15.6. Three issues:
1. Lightroom refusing to import videos from local disk. Tried every fix available without any luck.
2. Will sync photos and videos from cloud & phone app, but so slow.
3. Creative cloud app states ‘no internet connection’ or ‘you’re disconnected’ – but able to log in and download apps to new computer so IS connected.
Moved from old Lightroom on an old iMac (both now unsupported), but still super fast due to SSD and RAM. Disappointed!
That sounds to me like it could either be a corrupted install – so uninstalling, rebooting, then reinstalling could be worth a try – or some other software that’s getting in the way, most frequently security software.
Fresh install didn’t help. Long discussion/interaction with Adobe where they changed all my settings without success. Installing an earlier version didn’t help. Going to call me back in a few days after investigating. Thanks for the info.
Hopefully, they will be able to help. If not, drop onto our Forums so more questions can be asked, and hopefully a solution can be found.
Import bug on Mac introduced with 15.5 and still in 15.5.1. Any news? Bug report still open on Adobe site
This was very much an interim release, primarily for the new cameras (including the new Apple iPhones). The Max Release will be a much bigger one, and additional bugs will be cleared for then.
When would sony A7V camera matching profile be released??
We don’t know that; be aware the support for this camera is currently preliminary, as per the Adobe note.
‘Preliminary support means that the image quality and raw format support for the given camera model is not yet finalized and may be updated in a future release.’
What a mess. The video import issue on Windows 25H2 that has been widely reported on v15.5 has still not been solved in v15.6. Is nobody at Adobe actually looking at bug reports? Or is it a deliberate choice on their part?
I just updated to Windows 26H2 (26300.9550). The same problem still exists. It concerns especially 1080p HEVC MOV files from my iPhone 16Pro, but also from an iPhone 13mini.
Based on what I can see, it looks like the bug’s been acknowledged but they weren’t able to get a fix in time for this release. There’s been an unusually short gap between 15.5 and 15.6 due to the release of popular new phones, otherwise there wouldn’t have been a release expected until Adobe Max in about 6 weeks time.
The latest release of LrMobile 11.6, for iPhone and Android has an option to open closed eyes if you have the same person in your Lightroom photos with eyes open. It will automatically scan for the matching person. This is better than PS because it replaces it with the actual person’s eye. All features will be the same as for that person. It worked for some photos but not for all.
Have you actually got it on your phone, or just seen Terry’s video/post about it? I’m still trying to find out if it’s actually shipped, or whether his demo was released prematurely. It isn’t accessible on any of my devices with release builds, only my prerelease ones, and I don’t want to break my NDA. This is the first release since Rikk retired and Adobe’s communication has some huge holes in it at the moment!
Victoria, I tried it on my Samsung S24 last night after seeing Terry’s video. First two images I tried, it didn’t work but the next two worked. I have been trying on kids scattered in the back garden. The ones that worked look ok and I couldn’t tell they were altered. I don’t shoot two hundred shots of a model in 10 mins. So I assume that Lightroom checked for the same person shot at different dates. Maybe the reason not all worked.
Two points,
1. Since Apple has had beta’s for macOS 27 released since June and full release out 2 weeks now, a sense of compatibility with it would be nice. No comment on that with this release.
2. Am I going mad? I’ve been watching the evolution of Lightroom CC (the original mobile OS one) into today’s naming which is called “Lightroom Desktop”., really? Whereas the version that has only ever been based on the desktop paradigm is called “Lightroom Classic” ! Adobe’s naming of Lightroom is a mess and confusing. Perhaps this is their strategy.
Golden Gate – this is as yet not supported; usually, this is implemented with the release at Adobe Max.
Naming – Lightroom CC hasn’t been used to describe Lightroom Desktop (so Cloud version) for some years. It was just Lightroom Classic or Lightroom (the Cloud version), adding Desktop to the name makes it more distinct from Classic. We agree that the naming has been confusing for quite some time!
