Copy/Sync/Preset Checkbox Presets
Do you find yourself repeatedly checking the same checkboxes when you’re copying settings to other photos? With this release, a new pop-up appears in the dialogs, allowing you to save specific groups of checkboxes. All and None are self-explanatory. Default selects the checkboxes you used last time, Modified selects any settings that aren’t at their defaults or you can save your own checkbox presets.
The new pop-up is found in the Copy Settings, Sync Settings, Create Preset, Update Preset, Sync Copies, and Sync Snapshots dialogs.

GPU for Preview Generation
If you have a high-end graphics card, you’ll be excited to know it can now be used to speed up preview generation, in addition to the existing GPU acceleration. It’s controlled using the new Use GPU for Preview Generation pop-up located in Preferences > Performance tab. Auto is the best setting for most people. It’s also up to 2x faster.

Generative Remove Improvements (All platforms)
The Generative Remove AI model has been updated, with the improvements making it less likely to replace a removed object with a new one.

How do I update?
To update on the desktop, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world to avoid overloading the servers. You can also open the Creative Cloud app, click the … icon (top right), and select Check for Updates to give it a nudge. To update on mobile, visit the App Store (iOS) / Play Store (Android).

How can I find out more?
Well, version 15 of Lightroom Calssic is very buggy. Rollback to 14 asap.
-Kalle.
We can’t talk about 15 until the press embargo, but can you be more specific about what you were finding buggy please?
Hi, is it correct behavior, that ‘Lightroom online’ (= lightroom.adobe.com) puts uploaded image from collections from Lightroom Classic 14.5.1 no longer into albums but into ‘All photos’, only?
Hi Michael
No, any Collections still become an Album on both the web version and Cloud clients (just did a double-check!)
It sounds like something else is going on?
Thanks for the detailed breakdown! The new GPU preview generation and AI improvements sound great.
I have encountered this issue since the upgrade to 14.5.1. With auto mask on, Lightroom will add an exclamation point to the photo and say “Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo You will not be able to make adjustments to the photo.” Having said this, I am usually still able to make adjustments to the photo. I have noted this to Adobe, as have others. This appears to be a Lightroom bug that Adobe needs to address.
That’s a weird one. Has Adobe managed to track down the cause?
I put this on a forum; thought I would ask here as well. I have upgraded to LrC 14.5.1, but the lrcat file in my finder (Mac Sequoia 15.6.1) continues to show LrC 14.0. When I want to choose which catalog to open, the only choice is 14.0. “About Lightroom” does show 14.5.1. Why is the lrcat file different? Should I change the version name manually?
Hi Mary
The catalog number no longer changes when there’s an update to Lightroom Classic – this changed with the 14.0 release last October:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/whats-new-in-lightroom-2024-10/
It’s also in the Classic FAQ book.
Previously I wrote…
>>The update to v14.4 introduced significant lag in the Develop module when using
>>the left/right arrow keys to move through the images. Reverted to 14.3.1 and LrC
>> is fast again.
And the significant lag is still present in v14.5.1 so I have again verted to 14.3.1.
I’ll stay with v14.3.1 as long as necessary as it does everything I need.
Make sure you report it to Adobe so they can investigate, if you haven’t already. Otherwise you could be stuck there for a long time without them ever knowing there’s a problem.
Adobe has just released version 14.5.1 of Lightroom Classic.
I installed it immediately and can say that the problem has been fixed!
Lightroom Classic, now closes again as desired and without me having to close the Plhugin first.
It has indeed! Updated bugs and links at the head of this post.
It seems to me that since a GPU support for previews generation is enabled, there is no need to generate previews upfront. When you go straight to develop or loupe view in library, a single preview is generated almost instantly even with 12GB GPU and you can zoom out any picture at once. As smart previews seems to be not that recommended by AI, I wonder if any previews are still necessary when working on a single workstation?
Sounds good!
Which GPU & CPU are you using?
GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER & i7 12700F
Tried 14.5 and the stated fix to AI Denoise DOES NOT work. It still automatically runs at 50% and DOES NOT allow the user to set the % BEFORE it runs. MacOS 15.6 MBP M1 MAX
The actual fix – as posted on the Community thread (https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-ideas/p-allow-ability-to-adjust-denoise-slider-value-prior-to-denoise-running-lrc/idc-p/15458262) is:
“The current behavior has been modified, and now we avoid recalculating the result when the denoise amount is changed on multiple images at a time. This means that, after applying Denoise, changing the amount on a batch of images at once is much faster now.
To maintain consistency with other AI features, the amount will be set to its default value when applied.”
The previously reported bug (not allowing a slider movement prior to running the Denoise mode) has been designated as as-designed behavior by the team. The previous report has been converted to a feature request.
The Help Document (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/fixed-issues.html) is being updated to reflect that nuance.
I think the bug fix was about recalculating, not being to move the slider before applying Denoise. There some complaints but I prefer it. I can tweak NR as many times as I like as I’m editing. For a preferred constant amount presets or syncing can solve that.
From the Classic bug fix from the above link.
Update 08-13-2025:
The current behavior has been modified, and now we avoid recalculating the result when the denoise amount is changed on multiple images at a time. This means that – after applying Denoise, changing the amount on a batch of images at once is much faster now.
To maintain consistency with other AI features, the amount will be set to its default value when applied.
This bug has been converted to a feature request.

The update to the Generative Remove AI model has ruined it, as it now changes elements outside the painted mask, making it more or less unusable in many situations.
I reverted back to Lightroom Classic 14.3.1, and now it’s working again. It’s so sad to see Adobe ruin a feature that was working so well.
To get more details about the issue and see examples of the problem, please click the link below to a post in the Adobe Community.

Thanks for sharing the link. The more examples that show this issue, the better the chances of it getting fixed. I haven’t seen it happen myself, but I can imagine how frustrating it must be!
Absolutely agree with you! They made from the great tool which was doing fantastic work (according to me) totally not usable tool now in 14.5.
If anyone hears that the GPU change applies to updating previews on the second monitor now, please post about it, as that would be a big deal.
Just received confirmation that the new GPU preference affects all occurrences of rendered previews (so basically anything other than the Develop preview). So yes, it does speed up the secondary display.
