New bugs…
Classic: Crashes upon creating separate masks for one person.Fixed in 14.1.1Classic: (sync issue) Edit/Sync Photo changes the Capture Time.Fixed in 14.1.1
Generative Remove improvements (All versions)
Previously, Generative Remove failed if part of the object was hidden by a Crop, Transform adjustments, or Lens Profiles. It now works better in these situations (although cropping first remains the optimal workflow in case you decide to crop the image differently in the future). Here’s an example of how effective this can now be:
Lens Blur (All versions)
Oval/Anamorphic has been added to the Lens Blur tool as a new Bokeh shape.
For Classic and Desktop, the Cat Eye bokeh shape button has been replaced by a slider, so the Cat Eye effect can now be applied to any of the bokeh shapes. (It’s still a button on mobile.)
Preview Management (Classic)
There’s a new Library menu > Previews > Discard Standard and 1:1 Previews menu command. It acts like the existing Discard 1:1 Previews command, deleting the previews for the selected photos, but it includes the smaller standard previews. Generally, you’d want to keep as many previews as possible to improve performance. However, if your catalog is on a very small drive, it gives you more control over which previews you retain or discard.
Rename Catalog (Classic)
The Rename Catalog dialog now shows the catalog path, so you can see the parent folder name before deciding whether to rename it.
Edit in Photoshop (Desktop)
Lightroom Desktop now supports sending multiple files to Photoshop and opening them as Smart Objects or as Layers.
Info Panel (iPhone)
There’s a new i button at the top of Detail view for easier access to the Info panel. No more rooting through menus!
The Info panel has been updated, adding the ability to copy EXIF metadata, buttons to copy/paste keywords, and a new Location tab that shows any embedded/synced GPS data.
External Controller Support (Desktop)
In Preferences > Interface tab, a new Enable External Controllers checkbox will allow hardware controllers like Loupedeck to work with Lightroom. Previously, this was only possible with Lightroom Classic. Lightroom’s ready, so now it’s just awaiting third-party support… watch this space!
Other Changes
- All
- There are a few new Lens Blur presets in the Adaptive: Blur Background set.
Classic
- Lightroom Classic 14.1 and later will not install on Intel hardware that doesn’t have support for AVX2 instructions. This change affects macOS and Windows systems with older Intel processors.
- If the connection to Photoshop gets broken, there’s a new dialog to warn you and an option to fall back to sending a TIFF/PSD. The permanent fix is simply to reinstall Photoshop.
- When using multiple displays, Lightroom automatically selects the correct previews for the resolution of the selected display.
Desktop
- There are a couple of new keyboard shortcuts that allow you to navigate between photos even when tools such as Crop are open:
- Previous Photo – Ctrl left arrow (Windows) / Cmd left arrow (Mac)
- Next Photos – Ctrl right arrow (Windows) / Cmd right arrow (Mac)
- In Grid view, the new Edit menu > Select Inverse command inverts the current selection.
- The new Edit menu > Revert Changes command resets any changes made since you opened the photo, just like Reset > To Open on mobile.
- File Extension has been added to the options on the Filter Bar in both Cloud and Local modes.
- If you’re viewing an HDR photo on a display that doesn’t support HDR, there’s a new warning icon next to the HDR button. If you click it, the dialog provides more information on graphics driver updates or system settings that you may need to enable.
- The first stroke in the Remove tool is now transparent rather than white. It’s a little tweak, but it’s much easier to see where you’re brushing.
- New accessibility fields (Alt Text and Extended Description) have been added to the Info panel, although they don’t currently sync or export to Photoshop.
- Also for accessibility, there’s a new Disable single-key shortcuts checkbox in Preferences > Interface tab.
- There are a couple of new keyboard shortcuts that allow you to navigate between photos even when tools such as Crop are open:

How do I update?
To update on the desktop, go to Help menu > Updates or click the Update button in the CC app. The update servers take a while to push the updates around the world to avoid overloading the servers. You can also open the Creative Cloud app, click the … icon (top right), and select Check for Updates to give it a nudge. To update on mobile, visit the App Store (iOS) / Play Store (Android).
Are the books updated?
The eBooks for Adobe Lightroom Classic – The Missing FAQ and Adobe Lightroom – Edit on the Go have been updated to include the new features.

MattOBrien says
I might be missing something… but it seems crazy to add a feature to control previews when it does not provide an obvious control… ie delete all previews before a certain date. It may make sense to delete previews for stuff older than a month, a year, 5 years, 20 years.
Paul McFarlane says
Select All Photographs, then use the Library Metadata Filter to filter by date – it’s easy then to select all the years before x and apply the Delete Previews to those.
Phillip Cohen says
What has happened to the sort feature on the bottom toolbar?
Paul McFarlane says
Nothing. If you don’t see the bottom toolbar, hit ‘T’. If you see it but no Sort option, click the Disclosure Triangle on the very right of the toolbar and make sure Sorting has a tick next to it.
Kimkruse says
For me, the Republish issue on Galleries is now again back in version 14.1.1.
Any comments from other on this bug?
Andrea says
Hi there, please do you know if reflection removal has been added to LR14.1?
If not any clue when it will be added?
Thanks
Victoria Bampton says
No, it’s only a tech preview in Camera Raw at the moment. I would anticipate sometime in 2025… I would guess April or October based on past feature releases, but that’s just a guess.
Andrea says
Thanks for your feedback.
NDH says
It looks like there’s a serious bug in 14.1 with the sync roundtrip from LrC to LR back to LrC that shifts the capture time by your timezone offset from UTC, or in some cases a random number of hours (that could be 6 or 7 months into the future or past) for each edit that triggers sync.
It seems like holding off the upgrade is in order if you use LrC and sync to cloud…
Victoria Bampton says
Yep, it’s linked in the “New Bugs” section at the top of the page. It’s definitely a weird one! I suspect we might get a double dot release for that, as it’s a high priority bug.
james says
Ouch, so anyone without AVX2 cannot even install? What are we paying for then??
This is incompetence of Adobe will bring them down eventually..
Victoria Bampton says
I believe AVX2 was released in 2013, so we’re talking about old tech. I guess the compromise might be to only drop video support on those machines.
I assume you’re affected, what spec are you running?
Darian S says
Hi,
read some time back via your excellent updates, there were some issues between Lightroom Classic and Sequoia on Mac.
have these now been resolved please?
regards, darian
Paul McFarlane says
We aren’t hearing of any significant issues with Sequoia (we are both using it ourselves).
Scott says
Hi there, I’m curious if you know if tethering support for the Canon R5 MKII has been included in this latest update of LrC 14.1? Thank you.
Paul McFarlane says
Not this time. Here’s the link to the Adobe Tethered support list:
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/tethered-camera-support.html?red=a
Scott says
Thank you for your reply, Paul. I saw that list — but it is dated 14 October 2024, which is when LrC 14.0 was released — so I was hoping that the latest LrC14.1 addressed this. I can’t seem to find an updated list of cameras with tethered support with LrC 14.1.
Paul McFarlane says
No additional tethered support was added in 14.1.
Scott says
Thank you for letting me know. That’s…disappointing.
