If you’re wondering where your Lightroom Classic default presets have disappeared to, Adobe has just hidden the legacy ones in the latest release. It’s very easy to bring them back though…
- Go to the Presets panel + button and select Manage Presets.
- Check the Classic groups of presets, for example, if you’re looking for Punch, that’s in Classic – General.
When I click on the + next to presets in LR I do not get the options create preset, import presets, or manage presets– it jumps me right to the create preset box, I don’t even have to choose (or have the option to choose create). Can you help? I have been a LR user for years.
Sounds like you’re on an older version Brenda. This issue is specific to Lightroom Classic 7.5 released last week. If you go to Help menu > System Info, you can see which one you’re using.
Thank you! You are an awesome reference library.
Excellent info Victoria, can User loaded presets be removed via this method? – I am struggling on how to remove presets I never use anymore.
Hi Scott
They can – hover over the preset and right-click, there’s a delete option (you can delete entire groups this way also)
Just be sure to be over the right preset / group!!!
Hi Victoria,
I was able to find the Classic – General –> Punch preset by selecting it’s group. I am now trying to figure out how to make this available in LR CC. Is there a file location for the built in presets that I could use to import?
Thanks,
Greg
It just adds +30 Clarity and +25 Vibrance, so it’s probably easiest just to create your own preset to do the same. If you need to check what others do, just reset a photo and then apply the preset and look to see which sliders moved.
Thank you
Hello. If these are legacy presets that’ve been hidden in this release, could they be removed alltogether in a future version?
It’s possible – anything’s possible – but if that happened, we’d just save out copies, so nothing to worry about.
I’m using the current version of Lightroom and I did not find the Manage Presets option either. however the Classic range of presets was already listed inder my presets, so I don’t know whether it came like that or I have inadvertently moved them there!
Manage Presets not showing up sounds like you might not be on the latest after all. Checked Help menu > System Info?
I have a single user preset that I apply to nearly all images.
However, User presets is not visible under Presets and not available in Manage Presets. How do I bring it back?
Interestingly, my user preset IS available when importing images so that’s the way I’m applying it now.
That’s a new one. I think we’ll need screenshots to figure that one out. Best post on the forum (linked in the menubar)
Thank you very much for posting this blog! Everything I researched prior to this was convoluted! This was an easy fix! I am very Grateful! Thanx again!
Thanks for the solution, Victoria! Just an opinion, Lightroom Classic is covered my entire digital workflow so much! I’m happy, I’m using a combination of presets. It’s various types of presets that we can employ at different points in our workflow.
I found your blog post on Lightroom Classic 7.5 very helpful. I don’t know what caused the disappearance of my presets but your blog post helped me to figure out how to go about finding them again. I was able to restore my presets and now have my work back.
