Last week, we learned about the global editing sliders, which affect the entire photo. The Linear and Radial Gradient Selection modes allow you to edit specific areas of the photo, for example, to darken the sky or create an off-center vignette. Here are all the tricks you need:
Next week, we’ll take a look at the other selective editing tool – the brush.

Hi!
I would like to know if there is a way to control on the iPad, the points independently of the Radial Gradient, as in the desktop version, with the Option key.
Thank you!
Victoria Bampton says
I’m not aware of any such option. Mobile always tends to be simpler than desktop.

Looking all over the place for something to offer details on Lightroom Mobile editing! Thank you very much.

Hi David
Mobile is covered in more detail in Victoria’s book Edit Like a Pro (covers the desktop cloud version of Lightroom and mobile too)

Hi Victoria,
I was getting along fine with JPEGs, until I tried to send RAW file to my iPad. The SAVE IMAGE button doesn’t seem to save the image to the camera roll, like it does with a JPEG. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike
Victoria Bampton says
Hmmm, I’d expect it to save a raw file out to the camera roll as a JPEG. That’s not working? And you do have a subscription?
Mike K says
It will save as a JPEG if I send as a JPEG. The save function works differently with a RAW file. If a JPEG, tapping and holding on the image opens the save dialog box, which then saves to the camera roll. For a RAW file, that dialog box does not appear. Instead, I have to tap on the little box in the upper right hand corner (a rectangle with an upward pointing arrow) to get a similar dialog box. Then tapping “save” seems to do nothing. Or if it is saving, I don’t know where, as it doesn’t show up in the camera roll.
My Lr6 is a perpetual license on my laptop, not a subscription. I downloaded the free Lr mobile onto my iPad, but have not implemented Lr Mobile because (I think) it is only available with a subscription.
Does this help?
Victoria Bampton says
Hmmm. That little box in the top right corner is the Share icon, and I’d expect Save to Camera Roll to save out a jpeg of the raw file. Since that’s not happening (and it’s possible I’m wrong about the expected behavior in the free version!), I’d suggest reporting it as a bug.
Mike K says
Thanks, Victoria. It seems more an iPad bug that a Lr bug, since the file never gets saved in the first place. But I did infer from your response that I can’t work on a RAW file in Lr mobile, because the op/sys will always save a RAW file as a JPEG. True?
Victoria Bampton says
AFAIK, without a subscription, the raw file gets saved out as a JPEG. A subscription’s needed to access the premium features (and well worth it, IMHO)
