Today is the day many Creative Cloud subscribers have been waiting for – Lightroom is now available as part of the Creative Cloud. If you’re already a cloud member, log in to the Creative Cloud and download it now. There’s more information at http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-creative-cloud-faq.html
Welcome to the Lightroom Community!
What is the Creative Cloud?
If you haven’t heard of the Creative Cloud yet, it’s a subscription service which gives you access to the Creative Suite at a lower cost than buying a standard license, as well as offering additional features such as early access to new tools, cloud storage and interaction with the touch apps.
Adobe describe it as “the digital hub that lets you download and install every Adobe Creative Suite® 6 application; access online services for file sharing, collaboration, and publishing; and benefit from new apps and features as soon as they’re released — giving you the freedom to create anything you can imagine.”
If you’re interested in joining the Creative Cloud, and you currently own a CS3 (or later) Adobe Creative Suite product, including individual products such as Photoshop, there’s an introductory price of $29.99 per month for the first year. After that, it’s $49.99 per month.
It’s not the best choice for everyone. If you only use Lightroom and Photoshop, as is the case for many readers of this blog, it’s currently cheaper to upgrade perpetual (normal!) licenses instead of subscribing to the Creative Cloud. On the other hand, if you use more of the included programs and upgrade them regularly, or you run a Mac and a Windows machines, then it’s a brilliant deal. Unlike the normal CS licenses, it’s a cross-platform license for all programs, so you can use the whole suite on a Mac at work and a Windows machine at home, or vice versa, just like you can with Lightroom’s normal license.
What do you think? Is it a good deal for you?
