The newest Mac operating system, macOS 27 Golden Gate, is now live. The big question is, will Lightroom and Lightroom Classic work on it?
It’s a good question, as the last thing anyone wants is to update their Operating System only to find critical apps either don’t work or don’t work properly.
The short answer is – it’s too early to be sure, and Adobe doesn’t list it as compatible yet. We’re not aware of any known issues, but it won’t be officially supported until the next update. Remember, Adobe Max is in early November, which usually brings Lightroom updates.
We’re also awaiting feedback on the compatibility of peripherals. Again, see our notes on these at the end of this post – we’ll update as fixes or new drivers are available.
Lightroom Classic
- We’ll update if issues are discovered.
Lightroom Desktop (the cloud-based version)
- We’ll update if issues are discovered.
Other peripherals or software to check
- Wacom Tablet – September 24 – Wacom released driver 6.4.14 that supports Golden Gate, but check your tablet for compatibility.
- Lightroom Classic Plugins and External Editors.
- Editing device drivers (Shuttle Pro, for example).
- Printer drivers.
- Scanner drivers.
- Backup software compatibility.
We’ll leave the blog comments open for you to share your experiences, and as we gather more feedback, we’ll continue to update this post.

Fine on my M4 Mac Studio.
As with every MacOS update, importing to folders on the Synology NAS no longer works 🤬
All good feedback! And as of today, there’s a Wacom Driver released for compatibility.
Working fine on the Mac Mini M4 and MB Air M3. I’ll likely take the advice of the gurus on this site if you don’t want to get into any issues. I’m a hobby shooter so I don’t have much to lose.
Updated last week; Seems fine on my MacBook Air M3 2024 16gb
