Occasionally, Amazon offers one of the Lightroom subscriptions at a discounted rate. Even if you’re a current Adobe subscriber, you can purchase the additional 12 months and it’ll simply extend your expiry date. But how do you extend your existing subscription using the code you just purchased?
Purchasing at Amazon
Amazon.com users beware! While Amazon.com used to offer the same type of redemption code, they now appear to offer Lightroom subscriptions through their own App Store. It’s unclear how this new App Store interacts with existing subscriptions, but I would guess that it would create an additional subscription rather than extending an existing one, which defeats the purpose of getting a bargain. (If anyone’s tried it, let us know!)
Select plan you want at Amazon – either the cloud version (1TB) or the Photography Plan (20GB). The latter is the one that includes Lightroom Classic and Photoshop.
If you’re planning to use the code to extend an existing subscription, visit the Account page on the Adobe website to confirm which subscription you already have, as you’ll need to purchase an identical subscription to the extension to work. Here it’s the Photography Plan (20GB) – the one that includes Lightroom Classic and Photoshop.
Here’s the Amazon pages:
Select the one you wish to purchase (1TB or 20GB). Use the option Activation Code by Email and the redemption code will be emailed to you after you’ve paid, rather than having to wait for the card to arrive in the post.
Proceed as for a usual purchase – Add to Basket, then Checkout.
Redeeming the voucher
An email will be sent to you from Amazon with the Redemption Code and a link to redeem it.
Follow the instructions in the email to visit the Creative Cloud Redemption Site. When you’re there, enter your redemption code (you can copy and paste from the email). Double-check that you’re still logged in using the correct Adobe ID if you have more than one.
You’ll get notification that you have redeemed the voucher and it’s been applied to your Adobe account.
You’ll also get an email From Adobe confirming that your expiry date has been extended.
* If you use the direct links to Adobe or Amazon on this page, we receive a small percentage of your payment at no cost to you, which helps support this site. Thank you for your support!

If you have the Photography Plan, then as well as Classic you have access to the Lightroom cloud ecosystem including the mobile apps and web interface. For more information on these apps, see Adobe Lightroom – Edit on the Go.
