Hello, I am russian, so I want to write keywords in my native language. But there is some problem with the export of such tags, titles and image descriptions.

On export Lightroom (I have tried versions 1.2 and 1.3 under MacOSX 1'.4.11), writes keywords, title and description not only into the XMP tags, but in the IPTC and EXIF tags too. And it writes them using wrong character set.

Now I am using ugly hack to get proper values from the XMP and to write them to IPTC and EXIF. I write small bash script that make some calls to exiftool and exiv2 to do all dirty job. But I dislike this solution I want that Lightroom to do ALL export tasks correctly.

I can send to email an example JPEG with wrong and corrected EXIF/IPTC tags.

Hello.

I know that we encode in UTF-8. I remember that being an issue with some fonts, but also a limitation of the metadata implementation in 1.'-1.3 You could send me a problem file (at mgaul at adobe dot com) and I can take it up with our metadata engineers for future versions.

I appreciate this is an old thread, but I'm also still having this problem. If anyone has any tips / info I'd be grateful, as this issue still seems to be present in the 2.' beta.

Here's a discussion group on Yahoo, where the real metadata Gurus live.

If they can't help you, no one can. It's a moderated group, with an anti-spammer admission procedure, but they are gladly accepting new members.

Give it a shot:

:!: Melissa, do you mean this changed between 1.3-1.4.1?
Keywording in french was a problem so I stopped using éçùîö etc.
It was also a problem in other modules... I reported to adobe but saw no change...
