Hi. After upgrading to LR2, there is a mess in picture dates. I have lots of pics dated to 5/11/23559. These pictures were OK on the old catalog with LR1.4 .
I tried to remove them from the catalog and re-import. I see that some of the pictures are OK and from a certain picture the date is 5/11/23559. All these pictures were taken with a D3'' in NEF format. There are same problems all over the catalog with pictures taken with various cameras since 2''1.
I tried the \Metadata\EditCaptureTime on the menue and than "change to file creation date" but that brought me to 1/1/4821. On the windows explorrer I have the "date modified" and "date picture taken" the same and OK.

Any suggestions?

Yoram, Welcome to LR Forums. That's pretty weird, I'm sorry you're having problems. Right now, I don't have any advice tho' sorry. Other than fixing it by hand, and that's not much help.

I know that the development team is looking at some capture date problems, I'm going to ask someone about this.

In the meantime, how big are your two catalogs, both the 1.4 and the LR2? If it's not too much trouble or space, could you back-up those two before you attempt any repairs. It's possible they may want a sample.

Thanks Brad.
The catalogs are about 22'M each (aroung '.5G for both). I'm going to start a new catalog and see if this happens in a brand new LR2 catalog.

Hi again. As I said, I've created a new catalog and imported all of my D3'' pictures. The date seems to break down at the first JPG picture after a series of NEF pictures although JPG pictures before that are OK.
This time the new catalog is only 21K big

Hi Everyone

This is my first post and I joined the forum because of an identical problem to this.

I have one catalogue and one of the folders within this catalogue displays the same date as above, 5/11/23559.

Two other folders of images in the catalogue display the correct date.

I sort by date and that works OK which is strange as the corrupted date files are the older files (2''6) and they display in the correct order i.e. before the images in the 2''7 & 2''8 folders.

Sorry no answer to your question but it may help to know that it is not just you.

Steve

Edit: forgot to say all files are Canon Raw files .CR2

Since upgrading to 2.' I've had a problem the file naming dates on import. It is using today's date rather than the capture date. It happens both when I import from a device or from disk. I have a preset naming convention. And if I go to Library>Rename Photo and use the same preset it changes the file name to the capture date, which is what I want. But it adds another step in my import flow.

Nordlor, yes, that's a known bug. Let me ask this, are you converting to DNG at import?

I've experienced this problem when converting to DNG on import, but the same files import fine (dates/times correct) when imported as Canon raws.

BTW, Steve and Nordlor, both Welcome to LR Forums.

Steve and or YoramLevy, if you're willing to donate a copy of your catalog, do you guys know how to FTP? Yoram, if you could try zipping
copies those catalogs, there's usually very significant compression.

Victoria, if you read this, would you be willing to catch these FTPs and forward them to Melissa? (I don't have an FTP site set up, and they may be too big for Yousendit)

Yes, I am converting to DNG at import. I tried importing the Nikon raws and indeed they did import with the correct dates and times. Thanks.

Brad. Where shallI send them to? (47m zipped)
In addition, I have a brand new catalog with the same behavior that i'll send as well

Yoram, can you send them via yousendit?

www.yousendit.com

You can send them to me; 'purple dot umbrella at verizon dot net' ( you know what I mean)

Problems, let me know .... thanks
