After quitting LR 2 for a few days and purchasing PE 8, I reconsidered and decided its the best program for me and I will learn it or die trying.

In a earlier post of mine, "LR 2 to the trash can", I commented on several of my problems.

I like to re-size some of my photos (all are on Ext HD) and send to Face book, e-mail, etc. One person replied that said he resized his photos and stored it on his internal HD in different place. It would work best for me if I stored different copies of the same image, side by side in same folder. I would like to see size info on the overlay when I move the curser over the photo.
Any suggestions, on best way to do this?

I also started taking HDR photos and have 3-7 different exposures of the same image. I have a separate program (Photomatrix) that I process all the images in. I would like to stack the images in LR 2 with the processed image stored beside the stack in the same folder.
One person suggested that he uses Photomatrix as an external editor.
I have CS4 as my external editor and have not found a way to add another editor in preferences.
Again, any suggestions?

Thanks for everyone's help. Hopefully in a few weeks or months, I will be giving help.

Glenn

PS. I going to join a locale camera Club here in Palm Springs CA. Hopefully, when I go to the first meeting, I can find someone who is an expert in LR. I think, one or two sessions, one to one will get me going

Export Snapshots! Do they exist, not yet. But if you add your voice they might make it in 4.'.

The one paradigm shift of LR away from photoshop and other editors/workflows, is that one does not need to create multiple PHYSICAL files of the same original file on disc, but rather one can create as many METADATA copies of the original as one likes.

In LR you can do this by
1. Virtual copies, however a VC is not saved (a frequently requested feature) to the xmp metadata.
2. Develop Snapshots, which are saved to xmp metadata.

To fit into your workflow, it seems Export Snapshots would work ideally. You would be able to view all of the different export versions you chose to make, according to specifics of the exported file. This information would be saved to xmp metadata and would be a searchable field.

By choosing View Options from the menu, you can change what information is displayed in the Info Display, the data which is displayed over the images in the Library and Develop Loupe views, and what is displayed in the Grid view cell parameters. You can choose 'Cropped Dimensions' to show in each/all of those views. I don't think you can display that info in the filmstrip.

In the menu Edit > Preferences > External Editing tab, you can assign any external program as the 'Additional External Editor', for instance Photomatix. In the attached screen grab, see the red arrows. In addition, you can create an unlimitied number of presets, see the blue arrow, each with a different additional external editor, so you can add as many tools as you would like. In the 'Edit In' context menu, the primary external editor and all of the additional external editors you've created will appear as choices.
