Workflow for newbie - NEF to TIFF

Hi evertone.
New guy here. I haven't used Lightroom before and its a daunting looking program.

I've done some homework and decided on LR2.6 for win xp.
I need it for batch conversion of NEF raw images to tiff or jpeg, noise reduction, sharpening, colour correction and cataloging of thousands of images.

Been scouring the tutes, especially video tutes for a workflow for the above. I havent found one.
I dont really know where to start with this process.

I'd be really grateful if someone can show me the ropes, step by step on how to go from importing a group of images, through noise reduction, CC and all the rest to output or a video that shows me the steps.

I don't think there's one video that shows all of those. But there should be videos that show each individual step.

As far as the workflow, I import, I do a thorough job of assigning keywords and metadata and add photos to collections if appropriate, then I develop (and I usually go top to bottom in the develop module, so color correction is first, and so on, noise reduction usually at the end of the process if it is needed).

Most Lightroom workflows do not include a step converting to .tif or .jpg. The reason for this is that Lightroom doesn't require you to create a .tif or .jpg that contains your changes like other photo editors do ... your changes are saved automatically in the Lightroom database (and optionally in the xmp), so there is no default save or export step. You would export your photos to .tif or .jpg only if you need them for some non-Lightroom purpose, like commercial printer, or use in another photo editor, or e-mail.

I am very new to Lr too. Not sure if this will help, but I found some basic workflow tuts and vids on this link. It is the Adobe help sight and there is a bunch of information to look over.
