Windows hangs

Hi everyone, i'm new here, 1st post, iv'e had a look around for a week or so and it looks a nice friendly place.

I'm also a new user of lightroom of a month and at the moment i use it for editing Raw images, not tryed the print modual yet, before that i used ACR the version for the EOS 4'D

So now to my problem, every time i do an import and go to shut down my pc, windows hangs and i have to hold the pc button in to turn it off, using any other programs of the net it shuts down ok, hope some of you nice people can help.

Since a month? With Lightroom 1.3? :roll:

What about downloading and installing Lightroom 1.4.1 first and come back to tell us your results?

Denis is right, it's probably worth upgrading to 1.4.1, if you're still running 1.3.

Can you describe a little more what happens? When your import completes, do you shut down LR, and then try to shutdown Windows? What's the sequence? Does the Windows task-manager, (ctrl-alt-delete) tell you anything about what process may be hung?

Hi Brad, no, after i import i go to slideshow modual and do my picks and deletes, i then edit my picks in develop modual, then i Export (1''% quality, 3''ppi) i will then close LR then use the net for a while, and it's then when i go to shut down my PC for the night that the blue windows is closing down screen hangs and i have to physicaly swich off my PC.:?

It's only doing this when i do an import in LR, using LR for any other purpose it works fine, if it helps my system is this: Windows XP pro 5.1.26'' SP2 Intel Core2 Quad 2.4' GHz, 2GB Ram 2.4'GHz

Gerry, that's one I haven't encountered before.

1. Here's some generic trouble-shooting stuff:

2. There's really no reason not to upgrade to 1.4.1, it's free, and reported to be more stable than the version you're using.

Thanks Denis and Brad, i upgraded to 1.4.1 did an import and export browsed the net for a while and widows closed down as it should.
