Tried to launch LrC today and it failed.
It flashed a message about catalog corruption and indicated it would fix it.
2 sessions of LrC showed up in Task Manager and LrC was hardly using any resources:

Called support. Rep got on my system and closed both sessions, then updated LrC with today's update then opened my catalog from the backup I made at 3am today after finishing a project, and it opened.

Then he tried ANNOYINGLY HARD to sell me a monthly credits package saying that when I use generative fill in LrC I'm using my credits. I'm not sure I believe that. HE CYCLED THROUGH HIS SALES PITCH REPEATEDLY UNTIL I RAISED MY VOICE TELLING HIM TO STOP.

The package of credits ALONE would be as much as I was paying monthly for the PHOTOGRAPHY PLAN for the last many years.

In December Adobe increased my monthly fee for the Photography Plan by over 50% going from $14.55 CAD to $22.39 CAD per month. I didn't mind that so much because of the added features that work very well and because they hadn't increased that fee for many years. Now however, I am getting EXTREMELY ANNOYED at the fact that everywhere I turn with Adobe they are trying to get me to commit to more monthly fees. I have lots of Black Forest Labs Flux Playground credits directly from them, that appear to be a fraction of the cost of the credits I'd burn if I used their program through Photoshop. It's like they've decided customers like me who started with PS then got the very first version of LrC and have used and paid for these products ever since ...are just carnival patrons to be fleeced at every opportunity. I am thoroughly pissed at the HIGH PRESSURE SALES TACTICS Adobe is having their representatives employ.

The guy said right out that when I use the remove tool with 'Use generative Ai' I am using Firefly credits and that I should be subscribing at a price of over CAD $10/month so I don't run out, yet I see nothing in LrC implying I'm being charged to use that feature. Am I missing that? Are they compiling an inovice for which I'll be automatically dinged??

Am I the only one who now feels like I'm here for Adobe's benefit instead of Adobe being here for my benefit, and that Adobe won't be satisfied until they have extracted every cent they can from me?

If I were you, I would cancel my Adobe subscriptions immediately. There is no point in being unhappy with what they provide you.

It's worth pointing out that Adobe exist to make a profit, they are not a charitable organisation.

Personally, I love my Lightroom plan, great value and I buy it from Amazon UK for around £70 annually when they have one of their regular Adobe sales.

Adobe did not increase the Photography Plan if you paid annually, Paying monthly did incur a higher rate. Also If you do not use Photoshop, you can subscribe to the cheaper Lightroom plan which now includes Lightroom Classic. There is no longer a 20GB plan. Both plans are now 1TB. I saw no increase in my Photography Plan as I already paid annually and had upped my cloud storage to 1TB.

I do not believe that this is the case. First of all because LrC (so far) does not nativly even have "Generative Fill". It does have "Generative Remove" but it does not consumes any credits. The only things that the agen may have been alluding to the newly integrated Generative Upscale (powered by Topaz/Firefly) and the "Generate using Firefly" tool both of which, I suppose, are considered to be performed outside of LrC.

It should also be noted that all Adobe plans that include Lightroom come with a base amount of free credits.

I too am not paying anymore than I did with my first subscritpion plan (LR/7, 2017, time frame). All I had to do was follow their instructions and change from being billed monthly to being billed annually. For me, that's the 20gb plan for $120/yr whcic include LR, LrC, and PS - same as before.

My price didn't go up 50%. I'm still paying the equivalent of $9.99 US a month. Same price since 2018. When my renewal date comes in September I'll still be paying that amount. Did you not get the email from Adobe explaining the price and payment structure changes where you had the option to avoid the 50% increase?

I think I got lucky… I would have preferred no change but opted for 1 annual payment and keep my legacy pricing.

But it seems I now also got 1TB of storage included. :)

A pity I only keep a few small albums of small jpgs in the Adobe Cloud…. but, as far as I am concerned.. Adobe have honoured their commitment to minimise subscription price increases.

You did. Wow. I just checked and mine is still at 20GB. I wouldn't tell Adobe anything :censored: :)

The Adobe rep tried to sell me a monthly generative credits package after he had helped me sort out a syncing issue last year. It wasn't a hard sell though and I politely declined!

We got rid of our land line years ago. Every time I call my cable company they press me to get it again. I told them I'm tired of getting messages with ship horns telling me I won a cruise. They told me for a few more dollars a month they could stop that. Yeah right. Everyone tries to upsell you.

Since you only get two tries at the new Adobe/Topaz partnered Denoise and Sharpen AI tools via PS I decided to buy a months worth of Premium credits for $12.99 - online. I tried it for a few days and was not impressed. For one thing no user controls. I cancelled and got a full rebate. The premium credits are not an annual commitment. You can cancel any time with no penalty. Once your trial period expires you don't get a rebate if you are halfway into a month for the next two weeks. No big deal in my opinion.

Before everyone praises Adobe, consider this $150M settlement with the US Government over subscription cancellation charges
https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/adob...ion-resolve-alleged-violations-restore-online

ROSCA generally requires companies offering online subscriptions to clearly disclose important subscription information and to provide subscribers with simple ways to cancel. In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the government alleged that Adobe violated ROSCA by using fine print and inconspicuous hyperlinks to hide important information about Adobe’s subscription plans, including information about a hefty Early Termination Fee that customers may be charged when they cancel their subscriptions. The government also alleged that Adobe thwarted subscribers’ attempts to cancel, subjecting them to convoluted and inefficient cancellation processes filled with unnecessary steps, delays, unsolicited offers, and warnings.

Adobe for good or bad, I don’t think this is a place to be bashing Adobe. IMO this kind of content doesn’t belong on our forum. If it persists, I’ll close the thread.

You have any idea how many company's get sued. No disrespect Phil but I read this about Adobe and Amazon is being sued for the exact same thing. I've seen that complaint about Adobe on several sites. Often by people who don't use it. How many still use Amazon knowing that. I don't like any big corporations and I don't really care if Adobe is being sued. They have done nothing to me.

This thread was closed as it seemed to have little to do with Lightroom Classic (and you aren't on version 18, btw) and more to do with complaining about Adobe. That is not the purpose of these Forums, and such issues need to be addressed with Adobe directly. They also have forums where people can express their views.
