Why do my images go to a subfolder of created folder?

I like using the import option straight from my memory card to the external hard drive / import into LR. But, the one thing I do not like about this way versus the old copy/paste is that my images go to a sub folder of the created folder.

For instance I insert the memory card and begin to import. I create a folder named "2''94'18 - Atlanta" to copy the images to. Everything looks fine once the import is done while looking at the folder in the library of LR. But, when I go to the external drive and click the "2''9'418 - Atlanta" folder to view the images, I see no images just another folder "2''9'418" which contain all the images.

Why are my images going to a subfolder?

You are most likely importing your images with 'organize by date' option and this creates the date folders for you. Just create at Atlanta folder and let Lightroom create the date folders, or, you can change the way your import is 'organized' so that it doesn't use dates.

Just getting around to import new images and that was exactly the problem.
