Which version of LR to use when newbie?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and lightroom and I wonder which version is best for me to use. I am currently using 3.'beta but we have a v2 license inhouse that is available if I choose to use an older version.

What would you recommend for me to start with?

Welcome to the forum,

Newbie or not I would stay with the latest officially released version - LR2.6. I use LR2.6 in my everday photolife but I also play around with ver 3beta but then only on copies of my files.

LR3beta is just a beta. It is not fully tested, it may have functions that will not be included in the releaseversion (whenever that is), it may have functions that will change etc etc.

I agree with Bosse. Better to stick with the most recent stable release (2.6) for any formal work. LR 3 Beta is great to play around with, but it's still too buggy to use on official stuff. Go with 2.6 for now, play with 3 Beta as time allows and wait for the official version of 3 to be released in 2'1'.
