One of the reasons I originally made the jump to LR is because of the cool web templates.

I'm on v1.2. When I went to do a web presentation this morn, I find there aren't any templates. There are none for web, and none for slideshow.

I could SWEAR I saw them when I first got LR about 3 mos ago.

Hopefully a dumb user error.

Basically, the choice for Lightroom Templates and User Templates - they just do not expand.

????

Bob, can you please fill in your OS details etc in your signature as per the rules to enable us to assist you with this query - thanks.

Thanks Bob.
This should help:
Presets can be found in the following folders.
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Lightroom/Develop Presets
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets
Vista: <systemdrive>/Users/<User Account>/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets

Check out this link:http://inside-lightroom.com/docs/develop_presets_3.pdf

Actually I'm not looking for presets. I'm looking for Templates.

But your input about the folders led me to the folders for web and slideshow templates. Which are empty. I doubt they used to be. I checked for both my user and for all users.

Is there someplace on Adobe's site to download the Web/Slideshow templates? I'll probably go look there later.

You can also search your computer for .lrtemplate which is the name of templates.

That check box is not in Catalog Settings. It's in Preferences, on the Presets tab. It is unchecked.

No files ending in lrtemplate are on my computer.

I think it is pretty obvious the files are simply not there. I know I saw them back when I first bought LR. I checked my 1.' cd install disk. Not there.

I logged into adobe.com and searched the downloads, they don't seem to have the templates available for download.

So. I installed LR from my original disk on another computer. All the templates are right where they are supposed to be, and they show up in LR.

I copied those files to the same folders on my laptop. Started LR. It doesn't see them. ! Maybe I have to reboot.

Hang on a second, LR's own presets and templates are part of the Lightroom program itself.... aren't they? They are hidden in the depths of the programs itself. I'd simply reinstall LR if I were you - it'll be by far your quickest option.

Oh, and FWIW, Windows Web Templates location is C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Web Templates - but that folder doesn't appear unless you create some user templates. And the original ones aren't stored there.

Lightroom 1.2 has the option to reinstall default templates from the Preferences window:

Which one are you looking at Ian? Maybe I'm missing something, but I wasn't aware that any of those put web templates back. Please do prove me wrong though!

Ah... in my haste to help, I overlooked the part about web templates.

No, sorry Bob, time to reload from disc or download.
