When will Adobe release the next version of Lightroom?

I welcome rumors, innuendo, and unprovable facts in any response.

When will we be seeing or hearing or reading about Lightroom 3?

The general community, as measured by blog activity appears to be slowing to a crawl and we're nearing a year since LR2 was introduced. Isn't it about time for rumors to start about the release and the new features we can expect?

If not, isn't it about time someone starts making things up and posting them?

When it arrives. And not a moment sooner. Adobe does not pre-announce any version drops. And anyone who knows is under NDA not to tell!

LR 1 was released Feb 19th 2''7
LR 2 was released July 28th 2''8

The public beta was out on April 2nd, if I remember rightly.

Even if it follows the same cycle, that's 16 months from official release to official release, not 12 months.

The long and the short of it - don't believe any rumours you hear. Those who know can't say, and those who do say don't know.

But IMO the lack of rumers, etc., etc. is what keeps this forum heads sbove the others. No offence to op, just my opinion.

I'm not privy to any of the Lightroom happenings, but as Victoria mentioned, there was 16 months between 1 and 2. Also, there have been about 18 months between the last several major releases of Adobe's other flagship products in the Creative Suite.

I'd say it's a fair guess (although still a guess) to say you might expect something to ship late this year or early next (approximately 18 months after 2 was released) with a Beta program in advance of that.

Irwin Shröedinger would say that "we don't now if LR3 is in the box until we open it." ! (You should know that one ;) )

Another physicist would say that "it is by observing that we create reality".

The laymen would say "I will believe it when I will see it".

I would expect ...

I would expect one or two more incrementals prior to a full version release

I would had put my 2c on a LR2.4 some weeks ago. But since it is still not here my guess now is that they are working on a public beta and therefore not having time to work on 2.4. I think we will see LR 3 B1 within 2 month from now.

hmm... 1 day after last message and lr 2.4 was released... but i still think there will be a beta of v3 soonish
