When I set a flag, it also flags the next photo? Bug?

Hi all, I've never used flags before, so perhaps I'm doing something dumb.

When I have one photo selected, and if I then hit P or X or U (to pick, reject, or unflag) -- it assigns that flag to the selected image, and ALSO to the next (and not selected) image.

If I have more than one photo selected, I don't have this problem.

Any tips?

Update: It seems to be that somehow I have 2 photos selected, but it only shows one as selected.

I next realized that if I performed any other edit to an image, it would be performed to the next image.

If I select a single image, quit LR, and open LR again, I see the correct image selected BUT ALSO the next image is selected.

Did I accidentally turn on some "select two" feature?

Sorry, got it.

I was working in Develop, but somehow I was also in Compare View.

When I switched to Library, I could see that I was in Compare -- and when I switched that back to Loupe, everything was back to normal in Develop.

Yeah, the compare view (at least on a second monitor) makes me nuts, as its goal is to select one, but if you reject ("X") it marks them both. I still think it's a bug but am told it is a feature.
