I would like to know your workflow between LR and CS3, with Jpeg ( still shooting on Jpeg). In what format do you export the file in CS3? What's your setting in LR Preference : Tiff or Psd, 8 or 16 bit? Do you use edit a copy, or a copy with Lightroom adjustment? After doing your editing in CS3, how do you save the file and make it appear close to the original in LR? Which format? Thanks.

No one??? I just want to know in which format you export in PS, and which format you save your file in LR, after editing.

boubouoz, I don't think it's a lack of interest or opinions, I just don't think many members here are working with JPG only in this environment. Which seems to be the basis of your question.

Personally, I very rarely go to CS3/4 from LR. Generally, I have so little practical experience with that operation, that when I do try it, it's frequently an experiment or an adventure. But coming back from CS, I would go with PSD or TIFF.

I will look at this shortly, I don't use jpeg generally but will have a fiddle - excuse me while I enjoy the sunny spring afternoon here !!:lol:

I had a look on internet, and I think I will use Tiff, and buy myself a big hard drive. I don't really need to go to photoshop very often, LR is often enough. But I like to go to PS just to learn what I can do with it. Anyway, I will start to shoot RAW soon, so to get ready when I will start : What doI need to know to start shooting on RAW? About Camera Raw and that king of stuff...

Will still experiment with jpegs but doing a large export from LR at the moment.
Raw is easy, you will want to d/load the Camera Profiles from Adobe labs here:http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles
Camera Raw is the same as or similar to LR Develop so if you can develop in LR you can use ACR is PS. However I think most people use LR and only occasionally go to PS for editing and that is easy to do from within LR.

So, if I understand good, ACR is to use with PS. If I don't go to PS, I can stick with LR.

That is correct, I use PS for things like framing images etc, and heavy cloning form one image to another, etc.

I started to download the camera profiles. What is that for?

These will help achieve good develop results from your raw files. They work in tandem with develop presets to give pretty good first off processing on import.

In what format do you export the file in CS3?
Adobe are generally recommending Tiff over PSD now. They both include all of the same data now (PSDs used to hold stuff that Tiffs couldn't), and Tiffs are more universally accepted.

What's your setting in LR Preference : Tiff or Psd, 8 or 16 bit?
Unless you're making major tonal adjustments repeatedly, there's not really a real-world advantage to using 16 bit as the jpeg is already 8 bit and has thrown all of that extra data away. You'd only be inventing data, and massively increasing your hard drive space.

Do you use edit a copy, or a copy with Lightroom adjustment?
That depends whether you want PS to take your LR adjustments with it.
