Hi janis, sorry for the delay in replying.
It sounds like the ACR cache that you're referring to - that caches the raw data in Develop module to make it quicker to view photos you've viewed recently.

Next obvious question, is how large should it be? Make it as large as the disk space you can afford to dedicate to it. Many recommend committing 1'-5'GB to this cache, if you have the space...
