At the end of each year, I create a slide show of memorial photos to give my daughter. I choose a mess of photos and pick a piece of music from iTunes. This year, either LR tells me the music is not correct for use or it just doesn't play anything. Is there something that has changed?

Not that I know. You may have selected a music file that has copyright restrictions.

Johan,
Files are the ones Apple gives with Photos. I’ve used them in the past with no difficulty
After writing post, I decided to at least export/save my slide show w/o music, but LR just froze on me. I did restarts of both prgm and OS, but no change

Problem solved--apparently I needed to reset preferences with an Option/Cmd/Delete restart. Of course I also lost the publishing presets I had created, but a small price to pay
