Just the last couple of weeks I've been getting some weird results when importing to LR. The images are on a SD card (using a SD card reader) and shot on a Nikon D500. They look fine in the camera but are hopelessly damaged when imported. Some images import properly others not.

Is this an issue with LR or the SD card or even the camera???

I copied the entire contents of the external drive in question to another external drive. At least I feel better about that. But if I move files, how can LR file them again to continue editing?

Smart move. Drives are cheap. You have to think of them as supplies, like copier ink or toner.

If you are using Windows, then make the drive letter of the new external drive the same as the drive letter of the old drive, and be sure that the folder structure of all your photos is the same on the new drive as was on the old drive. How to Change External Hard Drive Letters. To be safe, reboot your computer before following this procedure.

If you are using a Mac, sorry that I can't advise.

No problems with today's imported photos (using the new card, but to the same external drive as always). I think now that I have backed up everything, I'll just take a wait and see approach. Jim suggested that when this happens I might try deleting the photos and re-importing.

(And, yes, I'm on a Mac, running CC 8.2 on OSX 10.13,)
