Firstly, apologies if this has been asked before or if it's a stupid question!

I was wondering whether there is any way to create a web gallery that integrates a simple keyword search function? I would like to create an online photo-library.

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts/ideas.

Regards
Gareth

Retrogaz,

Something like that would require a database. The keywords would reside in the database, and the database would point to the photo. A database could be searchable. Unfortunately, something like that would be complicated to produce, especially from LR. The Web module isn't built to output to a database.

Theoretically, keywords might be writable to an XML file, and a Flash interface could be written to search the XML file for keywords, but - again - complicated, and well beyond my capabilities.

An slightly different approach would be to use my Flickr + MonoSlideshow combination to display images on your site. Admittedly, the article is dated now; I need to update it for LR 1.3 - eliminate PictureSync from the work flow and bring Jeffrey Friedl's Flickr export plugin into the mix. In any case, users could then click through to Flickr and could use your keywords there. Toy with my photoblog (link in my signature) to get a feel for what I'm talking about.

You might also consider using a photoblogging package like PixelPost, but they don't play nicely with LR presently. A PixelPost export plugin for LR would be rad, but that's for another discussion ...
