Web export not working

Am trying to export photos using the web facility and get the message:
Export did not complete successfully
Original image file is missing: xxxx

And yet I can export the same photos to a slideshow as normal; and this seems to be a Monday morning problem as it has worked OK before now!

Help appreciated!

Find the missing original. Web export needs to access it, while SLideshow can rely on existing previews

To add a little more information, go into Grid view and you'll find little question marks in the corners of some images - Lightroom can't find them where it's expecting. Click on the question mark and show it where you've put the file, and it should relink any others in the same folder.

Don't you love Monday mornings?!?

As far as I can tell the originals are there OK. There are no question marks on the thumbnails in Grid view and i can open them in CS3.

Have tried with images from other folders and also with the Beta of V2, and get the same result.

Something sounds really odd David. The telling factor - can you open the files in Develop? If you can, then the file is there safely, and something weird is going with your web gallery.

Maybe try a different gallery template, see if that works?

Yes, I can open the files OK in Develop - and I have tried different templates. I feel it may be something to do with the Windows Ultimate Vista/LR interaction.
What exactly does the web gallery do? I can use other software to produce a web gallery OK.

Incidentally, I'm trying to use this method of output as I find that the Slideshow output produces pixellated images; I've tried varying the the output size of the destination screen before exporting the PDF but that's not helping.

Bit stuck on creating output from LR for my clients at the moment!

PS Am now getting a 'No photos were found to import' message when Importing. Can get round this by importing some files from the folder and then the rest, but it occurs to me that there is a connection. Also, perhaps the pixellation in Slideshow is because it is using the previews - as per John's comment above

You've not done anything like renaming the files outside LR? Something as simple as changing extensions can cause problems (stupidly LR doesn't recognize that 123.nef and 123.NEF are the same file on Windows).

What happens when you import those files into a new catalogue? Another thing to try is to relaunch and optimize the catalogue.

It appears to be a Windows problem – I have just exported the web gallery to my desktop – same hard drive as before, just a different address.

The clue was when I tried to create a new catalogue in the Beta version of LR2 and I got this message:
‘LR cannot create a catalogue named xxx on ‘OS (C:)’ because LR cannot save changes to this location’

Despite ‘C’ being the root of my hard drive!

So I have a work-around, albeit not too pretty. So any Windows input would be good.
