  • The May 2019 Lightroom updates are now available. There's a brand new slider called Texture, available across the whole family of apps. Lightroom Classic includes a new tool called Flat Field Correction. Lightroom (cloud-based service) has lots of big improvements including cloud trash, invitation-only web galleries, improved chromatic aberration removal and more. The Missing FAQ and Edit Like a Pro eBooks are already updated for the changes. You'll also notice the CC's have disappeared off the end of the names, so we've updated the forum names to match.

W10 search seems endless for LR export folder

A recent W10 update seems to have caused some bug in the automatic Windows indexing of my LR export folders (which are usually jpegs). The green progress bar slowly advances across the top of the window doing some kind of something, and on reaching the end it sits there. There is no degradation in performance, the window remains fully responsive. There have been moans about this feature in Windows going back years.

Anyway, I switched off Windows search - the indexer that automatically scans and indexes folder contents. I never use it. To do so, run msconfig, go to services and switch off windows search. You'll need admin permissions and a reboot.
