Vista 64x Color Issue

Ok, so I just installed vista 64x, and I got a new acer flat screen monitor. The problem is, I'm not getting a true color representation in Lightroom, or Photoshop, or the windows picture viewer. All images shown in these programs have a slightly cooler tempurature (they look more blue, which is especially noticeable when I look at black and white photos) and their contrast is slightlty off. I am comparing these to the exact same images viewed as my desktop background, on firefox, in the GIMP, or viewed as a slideshow. I don't think it's my monitor, because it only seems to happen when some programs load the image. Is it a Vista and Adobe thing?

No, it's probably not a Vista/Adobe thing. It's probably a color management thing.

We'll need some more info.

Have you calibrated the monitor? How, hardware?

What version of Firefox? (Not all versions are color managed). What Slide Show?

LR and PS are color managed. Don't know about Windows Viewer in Vista, nor the GIMP.

What you're seeing is likely to be the difference between programs which know what to do with a color-calibrated display, and those that don't. (Or 'less than optimum' setup of those that do.)

As Brad has said, you're seeing the problem specifically in colour managed applications, meaning you probably need to calibrate the monitor. Firefox doesn't colour manage by default, but it's easy to turn on. I've a post about it on Lightroom-News.com.
