What exactly are you doing?

Sounds like you're stacking the VC with the original. Do you see a number(2 if just one copy) in the upper-left corner of the thumbnail in Grid view? If so, the VC is stacked. Right-click on it and you can unstack it:

HTH.

Thank you for the welcome note.

When I create a virtual copy of an image, it should appear right next to the original photo. And it does not. The image appears in the filmtrip area without the curled page icon.

Enlarge the Film strip by dragging up its header. If you don't then see it do Cmd/Ctl-j and turn on 'Show Badges in Film strip' in Interfaces of Preferences.

Go to the LR drop down and select preferences.
In the interface section check that show badges in filmstrip is checked.
Also try increasing the size of the filmstrip and see if they appear.

Oops, didn't see your post Don, left this sitting on the screen without clicking post and then went out for a couple of hours!!

Geoff, read post #7 from 45 minutes earlier.

OK, played around a little: Go into the area between the filmstrip and the main Grid window(whatever that's called) and click the second icon from the far right(if you hover on it it'll say Master Photos). Or click the far right and turn off all filters. Then do the Preferences-Interface-Show badges in filmstrip that Don suggested.

Tool bar is the name and pressing "T" will reveal or hide it!!

Geoff, he's talking about the Filter bar, which is the top part of the filmstrip. It's not the toolbar!

Sorry about that, thanks Mark for picking up my error - I'll crawl back under my rock again for a while!!:lol::lol:

If you are in a collection with sub/child collections, it seems that creating a Virtual Copy is not possible. It only works in the sub collection.

Jeff, Don & Bill

Thanks for your super help. I was able to see the curled page in the filmstrip and the images appear isde by side. But I still dont see the original & the copy side by side in the middle section.

Once again thanks for the help.

Try sorting by capture time.
