Version 2.1 scroll wheel won't move sliders

i have been using version 2 since its release and have been able to use the mouse scroll wheel to control the sliders. this has been the easiest way to have fine control over adjustments. having downloaded version 2.1 this function has stopped. I have tried resetting the mouse controls and have tried 3 different mice... 1 x usb wireless laser, 1 x usb optical, 1 x ps2 optical. none will work. the function still works in other programs. has anybody else had this problem?

Just installed it on my laptop and have the same problem... but i can get the scroll button to move the slider if I click it down first. it then works fine but i cannot do this on my PC.

I have heard of issues with this, suggest you put in a bug report through the link in the top tool bar. The more the merrier!!:lol:

Yes, there's been some discussion of this issue elsewhere as well.

As Geoff says, if it's important to you, make sure to get your opinion 'heard' in the bug reports.

It appears that this is not a bug, it is an intentional change in v2.1 - required to prevent another problem. It's being discussed on the adobeforums here http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b688d6/19
The slider scroll functionality has been removed in favour of the scroll wheel scrolling the panel instead. This is a terrible move, slowing my workflow, although I have implemented a work around:
The values of the sliders in 2.1 can still be changed using the up/down keys, so if you have a Logitech mouse with programmable buttons and a 4 way scroll wheel (I.e. does left and right also) then you can program the left/right scroll actions on the mouse to send the up/down keystrokes, and set this up specific to the Lightroom application.

I prefer the original method though - the fix was something about a Ctrl-Z error!

Thanks, Paul, I had read that, but I wasn't sure whether it was in a 'public' location.

In the meantime, you can also use the keyboard and keypad +/- keys to move the sliders, with the shift key being a scale modifier. (There's an unresolved bug with the numpad plus key always giving the large correction)
In Basic move around the highlighted sliders with (.) and (,), with ( as a reset.

Edit: I am going to go play with my Logitech mouse assignments, tho', thanks for that!

I'm on mac, And LR has never behaved that way for me. Mouse wheel only scrolls the panels, even if I click on the slider or click on the slider value.
I've always used the up/down keys for fine control.
I'm on 2.'. And it was the same on 1.x.
I'm using a Microsoft intellimouse.
I would love to have the fine control on the mouse wheel, though.

Correct! This was only ever a Windows function. Was very useful never the less, and a big improvement in workflow which is now gone.

The left-right scroll wheel custom programming works well though - before, you had to first click a slider before being able to use the up-down scroll to adjust it. With the programmed mouse wheel option I mentioned above, you just need to hover the pointer over the slider then do the right-left scroll wheel.
