Is there an easy and non maddening way to access external editors from LR, make changes, and then have those changes picked up in LR. That is, is there a simple way to do this without generating TIFs in your LR library? Also is it possible to access more than one non PS external editor?
Thanks!

No and Yes,

Come on Don, bit more info......... :D

Currently the only straight forward way is the export to PSCS or other via Tiff/PSD edit file and Ctl/Cmd-E.

To go to a third or more App other than the two places allowed by the above process, you put a pointer/Alias to the app in Export Actions accessable by the Post Prcoessing segment of the Shift-Ctl/Cmd-E Export Dialog.

For more ask Victoria, who likely has a tutorial!

Some how the OP does not give sufficient info. (a.) Are we talking about processing raw files??. Since this is the core function of Lightroom.
1. LR raw processing features are not compatable with other raw converters.(exception ACR in PS CS3 and PSE 5+)
2. The OP refers to other editing programs these normally require photo files such as jpeg, tiff, psd etc. to be able to apply their functions.

Actually, the responses were helpful -- I was mainly concerned that I was missing something obvious. As background, I'm trying to use LR as my main library/dam tool and my primary RAW converter (cr2) for the bulk of my work. However, I do alot of high ISO stuff that needs NR and sharpening beyond what LR includes....and I'm a hobbyist who will never be in a position to invest in CS3/4/5 so I'm constantly having to do crazy workarounds.
Thanks! And thanks for this very easy to use and responsive site!
