Hi !
I have I think now begun to relatively well understand how to manage my files on Lightroom Classic CC. I just have one question to which I do not find the answer.
-> How do I make backups of all the pictures on multiple external hard drives ?
I understood how to put it on ONE external hard drive. But how do I put it on SEVERAL external hard drives ? I am a paranoid. I have several backups of my computer. I want several backups of all my pictures.
- I could of course just make a copy of my main external hard drive on to another external hard drive and occasionally delete all the content from one of the copies and then again make a copy of all the files. This would however take quite a lot of time.
-> Is there a way to occasionally sync the hard drives with each other in an efficient way ?
Many thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Kevin

I use a dedicated application to create scheduled backups of my system drive (Macrium Reflecton / Windows) taken automatically every morning. These backups are configured to include my Catalog (stored on a dedicated internal SSD drive). I have all my images under a single Master Folder. I use Synch software to synch new or updated image files to a second internal disk and a third external drive. This is scheduled every morning. I manually sync after I import a lot of images or do an extensive editing session.

The two apps I use are Beyond Compare and GoodSynch. I have stopped using GoodSync recently, because of usability issues with my workflow. These work on Mac and Windows.

I use ChronoSync on my Mac, which is an incremental backup/sync utility, to backup my data to multiple external HDDs, which I think is what you are wanting to do.There are plenty of other dedicated backup/sync utilities you could use. Doing it manually by deleting the backup and recopying the entire data collection is pretty pointless, in my opinion.

I also run TimeMachine and Crashplan (cloud backup utility).

If you are backing up locally, you only need TimeMachine which you already have. It works in the background backing up ALL of your critical data to a large enough External drive. If you want to backup to multiple EHDs, just add another target disk in TimeMachine. TimeMachine will automatically rotate backups to each target disk. Hi bank up my Time Machine to a time capsule and an Extertal hard drive. On my laptop I had 10 machine backing up to the time capsule when I was on my network. And to two different external hard drive’s when I was in the field.

Hi !
Thank you very much for suggesting to use TimeMachine that definitely seems like the best way to do it. Unfortunately however I now tried to do it but have a little problem. When I open the Time Machine options, the disk I want to copy is listed in the Exclusion box but grayed out. So I am unable to select it for removal from the excluded items. I found some articles on internet of people that have the same problem, but did not find the solution.
Many thanks in advance if you have a suggestion for this also.
Best regards, Kevin

You can not back up an EHD that is a TimeMachine backup disk. And you can can not include a removable disk (thumb drive) in a Time Machine backup. Can you post a screen shot of the complete list in the options dialog window like the one below? I'd like to see what is grayed out. And maybe you ca describe what is in them that might fool TM into thinking they are not ever to be included

Hi ! Thank you again for your time. I found the solution. I needed to Reset the Hard Drive to make compatible with Time Machine. I had to change it to the : “Format : Mac OS Extended (Journaled)”. In now works !!! ;)
