I was thinking of using multiple cat. and was wondering if there was anyway i can transfer photo's one from one cat. to another on the same drive. Currently i am only using one cat. for all of my photo's and was thinking of creating cat. for my family, dogs, etc.
Can this be done and if so, can someone please give help in starting !!!!

Thanks

Yes it can be done but would be more trouble than it's worth. Collections, keywords, etc are the tools that you can look at to organise in categories as you mention.
Pop over to AdobeTV and view the free videos on Lightroom they will help you.

Yeah, export as catalog would work, but I'd agree with Geoff - I'd give it serious consideration before starting to break up my catalog. Separate catalogs for work vs. personal works ok, but it gets far more complicated when you start blurring the lines - what if a family member and a dog are in a photo - which catalog should it go in then?
