Using lightroom on MAC and PC ?

I have same collection (folders) of pictures on MAC and on PC. Is there any file which I can move from one computer to another and have changes made in it?
To explain let's say I've been working on keywords on my PC and have done some small changes to the pictures.
Now I wan't to work on MAC but would like to have the changes made on PC.
Can I have it? How? :(

Hi Spot, welcome to the forum!

Questions then:

Are the original files duplicated on each machine, or are they on the same external drive that is attached to both?

And is Lightroom installed on both machines?

Are you looking to be able to access the catalog on both?

Do you need to be able to make changes on both or just one master machine?

Sometimes I work for couple of days on my laptop but then when I'll comeback I would like to "duplicate" this work to my MAC and looking for easiest way to do it :(

How would you plan on transferring the changes?

Easiest option would be to put the catalog on an external drive which you plug in to whichever machine you're using, and make sure you've got a single parent folder to easily relink the original files.

While the external drive "colostomy bag" method works, I routinely use Export as Catalog and Import from Catalog, to move edits between Mac and PC. Providing you don't change filenames on either machine, it's surprisingly effective. It's worth trying with small numbers of files before using it for real.

Mac sorts drives by name and Windows by letters. Using John's method, you will avoid the step of relinking images each time...

John's method is what I use, but you have to be pretty disciplined that once you've copied the image(s) from one system to the other, you don't fall into the trap of making further adjustments or changing the metadata on the original machine, otherwise you easily lose track of which version is the right one, and the main (PC) version fails to get the updates.

In the absence of a system of managing this workflow (which is pretty common among location photographers), maybe Adobe could make it so that folders could be tagged with a colour? That way on the Mac (Powerbook) I could tag folders which have been added to the PC to signify that no further changes should be made on the Mac.
