I read that I should not use V2 for any serious work. I would like to edit a Birthday Party (about 3'' images) and convert them to Jpegs. Should I have any problem ? Bob
I'm using it all the time Bob. The world hasn't exploded yet.
Just be careful - take a few extra precautions.
1. Make sure you've got backups of everything BEFORE it gets to the beta. There are some very weird bugs in the beta build.
2. Just play with the cataloguing, but don't count on it long term. The chances of a beta catalog upgrading cleanly to 2.' release are pretty slim, and even if it does work, using a beta catalog massively increases risks of bugs, so I'd start a new catalog in the release version, or upgrade a 1.4.1 catalog.
3. The settings on the new tools (local corrections etc) will have a very different effect in the final release than they do at the moment, so convert to jpeg before upgrading to the final release - don't expect the xmp to carry new settings the way you see them in the beta.
4. Remember it's a beta. There are bugs. Bugs that bite! Metadata's not being carried back and forth when using Edit with, things like that. There are some weird folder management bugs, so avoid moving files once they're in a catalog as the relinking doesn't always work properly, that kind of thing.
